June BlogCast ~ Kickin’ Out the (Traffic) Jams

I welcome you to our monthly musical get-together.

With the northern hemisphere’s solstice rapidly approaching, there’s one certainty… be we commuters or vacationers… most of us hitting the “open” road this summer… sooner or later… likely sooner… will be eye-witnessing the hydrocarbon haze on the horizon and mirages rippling off the scorching hot pavement… smelling the pungent odor of ozone and incompletely burnt diesel and petrol… hearing the road construction crews’ roaring backhoes and eardrum shattering jackhammers… as well as ear witnessing the leaned on horns of impatient drivers stuck in bumper to bumper, highway and expressway “parking lots”. In short… the sights, sounds and smells of city life.

It’s no accident that when one is getting nowhere fast… the construction zone “zone out” can fuel drivers’ thoughts… cause our gray matter to stray… perhaps even to the point where we may mind meld with this month’s recording artist’s lyrics… inclusive of a few of their expressed amorous intentions, reveries and fantasies.

The next time you find yourself in an actual traffic jam… well… who knows? Everything might wind up a bit more bearable if you keep the four “traffic jams” (below) in mind… and… oh… perhaps… even sing / hum aloud these catchy tunes?

Lovin’ Spoonful ~ Summer In The City

Soul Survivors ~ Expressway To Your Heart

Vogues ~ Five O’Clock World
