A 30-year, now retired, retail veteran can still vividly relate recollections
of December’s mixed emotions; loving to help shoppers select gifts for
family and friends, yet, loathing greedy giftees’ insensitive intentions to
morph returns into cold cash refunds; often in the very presence of the
dismayed gifters. To this very day said salesperson cannot help but ask:
Whatever happened to gracious acceptance of tasteful useful presents?
Why are 2 basic, monosyllabic words, Thank You, so tough to come by?
Even if a gift is not exactly right, why not discretely donate it to charity?
