Watching Every Penny…

`

As most of us are already painfully aware, a Big Gov has-been / sadistic asshole has been commanding utterly unjustifiable attacks which, in turn, has resulted in his needlessly murdering and maiming Ukrainians, which, in turn, has been driving up the worldwide cost of energy; HELL, the cost of virtually everything.

And, in turn, avaricious, opportunistic, Big Biz bastards have been overcompensating for their ledgers’ hemorrhaging red ink by unjustifiably bleeding dry average consumers; overcharging us far more than is warranted.

And THAT, in turn, has been causing those of us, with the least wherewithal, to keep a far more watchful eye on every last damned penny to our names; resort to whatever cost cutting measures we can implement; e.g. my own M.O….

Yesterday, rather than driving my car’s gas gauge closer towards the “E”, I hoofed it to my two destinations; the post office and grocery store. And, rather than carting it thru all the aisles, I limited my purchases to just the absolute bare necessities; four loaves of bread and a bunch of bananas.

Speaking of watching pennies…

As a numismatist (since I was an elementary school 2nd grader), when the cashier handed over my 61 cents in change, my collector’s eye instantly zeroed in on what appeared to be a “lucky penny”; a 1973 Lincoln cent, which still sported much of its original coppery luster.

Little doubt that enduring sheen, in part, can be attributed to the 95% copper content of pennies minted prior to 1982; (compared to today’s 97.5% zinc coins plated with only a thin copper coating).

Even so, it’s still rather rare for a half century old coin to remain that shiny, ergo, this got me to wondering…

Might America’s faltering economy be forcing folks to break up their collections; causing them to recirculate their keepsakes / lucky pennies?

Speaking of keepsakes…

Seeing how 1973 still represents the very best year in my entire life; a time when just about anything good could happen (and oft did)… well… let’s just say I’d have to be down on my luck; down to my very last cent before I’ll ever spend this penny.

I’ve opted to start this new day with the ending to nearly every blog I’ve published since the earliest days of the Global Pandemic; i.e., with those avoiding / surviving Covid-19, NO BS truths.

Case In Point…

Were President Joe Biden not privately agonizing / obsessing over how his moronic Trumper critics will (over)react, publicly, were he to set a positive example to humanity (i.e., were he to always mask up in public), its highly unlikely that he’d now be fighting off his very own case of Covid-19.

The great news, here, is that the President has been double vaxxed / boosted, ergo, his symptomatology has been minor / non life-threatening AND, best of all, he’s expected to recover, basically unscathed.

President Biden needs to virtually set foot upon the world stage, deliver his much overdue address to humanity; his NO BS message to the masses that if we ever hope to end this godforsaken pandemic, we must always MASK UP IN PUBLIC!

I don’t know how to blog anymore.

Sure, I still have a decent command of the English language and can adequately preside over the syntax… however…

Such skills only encompass writing’s nuts and bolts.

What’s far more worrisome are the rabidly partisan global, national, state and local characters, who I typically blog about; they who possess (are possessed by) notions best described as nasty and/or nutty.

Let’s mull over these misanthropes and the milieus they mill about.

We’re speaking, by and large, of the psychotic and/or cretinous miscreant males; from Vladimir Putin all the way down to the local Joe Blows, who, immediately after prematurely fleeing pandemic lockdown, have come to the conclusion that it’s time to partay; i.e., it’s high time to lock and load and hit the streets ISO innocents; to terrorize society by indiscriminately opening fire; all for the express purpose of painting their towns red… blood red.

As if what?

• The 6.5 MILLION (so far) known Covid-19 Deaths aren’t already bad enough?
• Global Warming’s death toll (due to freakish storms) isn’t rising fast enough?

And what of the Death of Democracy? Especially within lands, such as the U.S., where, once upon a time, it was thought that such an odious outcome could never happen in a zillion years. Yet, at present, some estimates claim that 1 out of every 2 stateside residents still feel fealty for that Anti-America, fascist bastard, Donald J. Trump; still fail to condemn him for his January 6, 2021 attempted, deadly and destructive coup.

I have first hand witnessed this horrifying state of mindlessness. Not too long ago, a telephone pollster / panhandler asked me what I thought of Trump and even tho I called him out as a TRAITOR TO AMERICA (in an angry tone of voice, no less), she still tried to hit me up for a “campaign” contribution. Needless to say, I was deeply offended that she’d ever consider me to be as imbecilic and sycophantic as she.

Let’s keep it real, re the January 6th storming of the U.S. Capitol. Moron DJT and his mindless minions all have red, bloodstained hands. Yet, instead of, bare minimum, their facing down trial, conviction and winding up locked up (as in throw away the key magnitude imprisonment), they still remain at large / free…

Free to stupidly and/or dementedly plot to do it again and Again and AGAIN… until they prevail.

Look, I’m not being an unreasonable, uncompassionate man, here. If any of them are diagnosed as mentally ill, it’d be perfectly OK to institutionalize, not imprison them till they can ascend to sanity; as well as gain a better sense of what the real America is all about.

Long sigh…

Alas, this post now comes full circle.

Being an eyewitness to America’s demise, in real time, is demoralizing; to the point where I oft find myself staring at the WP compose page’s empty field of white; asking myself “Why even bother?”

Worse yet, In such a state of mind, I’ve also been negligent in reading posts of those who I follow and I do apologize to all of you.

A Non-Electrified Electorate

President Joe Biden is gambling that trotting out his 2020 Boogeyman Trump Gambit can work wonders in snagging him the very second term that he, originally, claimed he’d not be seeking; can also smokescreen his chronically abysmal, job approval ratings; perhaps, even induce a bad case of political amnesia re his baffling, bizarre propensity for foolishly, flagrantly breaking campaign promises.

Granted, the man has been rendered dysfunctional, discourtesy of a recalcitrant, politically emasculating U.S. Senate, BUT, his resorting to the ballsy issuance of Executive Orders (to legally circumvent his foes) could also work wonders. As for why he opts not to make his pen mightier than their legislative sword? Well, I suppose you’d have to ask him.

From the Buyers’ Remorse Department: I personally find Daddy Joe treating me like a child; his resorting to fear inculcating, manipulative mind games both abusive and insulting.

So long as we’re on the subject of trepidation, what Daddy Dearest is failing to fear, personally, is the following, likely, fearsome Election Day 2024 outcome; i.e., IF he insists on going the tired, tried and untrue, Trump / Biden rematch route…

• Donald Dunce will, once again, wind up an Electoral College “graduate”
• Not because he’d ever impress the Dems, progressives and indie voters
• Nope, that’ll be due to duly disillusioned, PO’d citizens not voting at all

Everything Right Where I’d Left It

`

Brief 2020 Timeline:

• March 10: Michigan’s first reported Covid-19 cases
• March 10: The last time I’d cast my ballot in person
• March 16: The last time I hoofed-it to the Post Office
• March 19: First day of spring (northern hemisphere)
• March 23: Governor Whitmer’s stay-at-home decree
• April 30: Armed protestors invade our State Capitol

As humankind was soon to discover, the onset of the global pandemic’s widespread mask up / lock down era nearly coincided with the 2020 equinoxes.

While the commonly held, ongoing belief has been that Covid-19 is not readily transmittable within outdoor environs, this Doubting Thomas’ stance, right from the get-go, has been to always show far more respect for Corona-V than run of the mill, blowhole, culture warring, has-been Republican politicians will ever be capable of; especially the Disinformation King Rat / has-been (then) prez Trump.

Granted, it had been with profound sorrow that I’d opted to halt my frequent walks to complete nearly every one of my in-town errands; e.g., visits to the grocery store, bank, post office, etc; as well as hitting the nature trails within my fave parklands (due to most walkways being too narrow to maintain proper social distancing). I mean, what if an oncoming pedestrian were to cough and/or sneeze right in my face?

Along with this concern came my awareness / worries re Michigan’s short fused, right wing radicals; how easily these would-be domestic terrorists can overreact (violently) at the mere sight of anyone complying with Democrats’ conquer Covid-19 protocols. Hell, I even caught a glimpse of a car with a protest sign taped to one of its side windows.

Since I’d never want my pandemic mask to trigger any Trumpers, I deemed it wise to defend myself with my car’s metal frame and rolled up tight windows.

Brief 2022 Timeline:

July 15: My very first walk back to the Post Office

And, DAMN, it felt GOOD (especially rejuvenating) to rediscover every crack in the walkways (right where I had left them all); BETTER to, once more, commune with nature / interact with the delightful summer sunshine; even BETTER to discover that masking up has no, noticeable, negative impact on power walking; and BEST of all, that over the course of these past 28 months of physical inactivity, I have not lost any of my physical stamina (am still able to maintain my walking/run gait).

Considering all the price gouging going down at the petrol pumps, nowadays, my hitting my hometown’s trails, anew, could not have happened at a better time.

The Roe v. Wade Row (War)

In a past post, I addressed the issue of devoutness; concluded that religious fervor must dwell in the Goldilocks Zone; i.e., be neither too “cold” nor too “hot”. After all, the former temperature extreme might cause parishioners to perish from moral hypothermia; the latter, could easily imperil entire nations with impending, theocratic overthrow; in particular, of late, the fate now awaiting my own homeland?

Hmm, might America be spared seeing how, THANK GOD, we were founded, in part, on Freedom of / from Religion and the Separation of Church and State?

Alas, in spite of such state ratified, Constitutional principles having endured for nearly two-and-one-half centuries, when it comes down to the squinty, myopic eyes of the intolerant, the jury is still out.

Anyway…

This being a Sunday, what better time to discuss the future of America, which is being threatened, in part, by six ultraconservative U.S. Supreme Court justices (three of them Trumpers). Just one of their onerous, odious decrees recently wound up overturning Roe v. Wade; in essence, rendering abortion illegal.

Be mindful that, in order to discuss this complex issue intelligently, we will need to set aside our own personal views, re that surgical procedure, itself.

The actual crux is how that sextet of simpletons, handed down from the mount, their haphazardly chiseled, “Clay Tablet’s Eleventh Commandment“, which is already messing up / mucking up the lives of multiple-millions; unleashing devastating, societal upheaval; inflicting personal and financial hardship that’ll be felt today and for untold generations to come.

All owing to a half dozen, inconsiderate, out of touch with reality justices, who cannot even begin to fathom how the phrases “problem pregnancy” and “personal tragedy” are inexorably linked.

Case in point, the plight of the raped, traumatized, ten-year-young child, who recently had to flee from her home state of Ohio to Indiana to end her forced pregnancy; to begin taking her first baby steps down the long road to emotional recovery.

Tho that should be the end to this sad story, regrettably, the sorrows have only just begun…

Her abortion has whipped up the Stateside, Iranian magnitude, zero-tolerance zealots into such a frothing at the mouth furor, that these “pro-lifers” are now calling for the conviction, imprisonment and/or execution of the abortionist, the child’s parents and even the child herself.

Were this theological firestorm ANY WORSE THAN IT ALREADY IS, the “less intolerant” factions might… JUST MIGHT… relent JUST A TAD… were the child victim to do WHAT?

Consent to marrying and living with her rapist till death do they part?

Folks, I sure as HELL hope that immediately above sentence is hyperbole. For if that’s not the case…

Preface: Seeing how, here, within gun sick America, on average, we can expect daily acts of deadly domestic terrorism; perpetrated, by and large, by hardcore, right wing radicals, would the actual existence of the following, sample template shock any of us?

Lax gun control statutes, coupled with a stagnant police force, wound up allowing yet another bad guy with a gun, later identified as ______ ______ ______ (middle name / initial optional), to go on a take no prisoners rampage; to indiscriminately, relentlessly, repeatedly and heartlessly open fire upon the unsuspecting, helpless innocents, whose only “crime” had been merely going about their day-to-day lives; thereby resulting in the shooter (fill in known quantities) murdering ____ and maiming ____.

In the wake of this latest, needless national tragedy, per usual, we were forced to witness the barrage of “our” spineless, soulless national, state and local “leaders” / “legislators”; all colluding with their spineless, soulless gun manufacturer and National Rifle Association cohorts; forced to endure these tired, crotchety, feckless, flaccid males, ON CUE, speechifying their insufferable, meaningless, sanctimonious, paint-by-the-numbers “thoughts and prayers” platitudes; making mere photo op props out of the grieving, heartbroken, crying their eyes out, surviving families and friends.

Assessing Big Gov’s Asses and Pigs

PREFACE: This post was inspired by a WP blogger, who I follow. Of late, he’s been witness to Covid-19 leapfrogging from vaxxed family member to vaxxed family member; his situation supporting my theory that typical government issued pandemic protocols are proving inadequate. My best get well / stay well wishes to them all; to everyone else facing down this sickening situation.

When the Covid-19 pandemic ends… no… strike that… IF our still ONGOING global health crisis EVER ends, an assessment of “our” alleged leaders’ mismanagement “skills” would be in order.

While I could already, readily rehash…no… strike that… (p)rehash… such a postmortem, anyway, I’m still opting not to delve too deeply into the particulars, because, quite frankly, I possess neither the adequate academic credentials nor sufficient budgetary wherewithal to prove / disprove what, in essence, amounts to my pure speculation.

Yet… even a dabbler in medical science would be wise to always live up to the first-do-no-harm, Hippocratic Oath; to wholeheartedly accept how fraught with danger conjecture can be; especially since, quite literally, we’re still speaking of a life and death matter.

More to the point… I’d be overcome by sick feelings were any of my published too soon, unproven beliefs proven harmful to anyone.

Beyond that… it’d be the understatement of the new millennium to point out how (as I’m typing and you’re reading), spanning the entire Interwebs, there’s never any shortage of…

• hypotheses masquerading as chiseled in stone (tombstone) “facts”
• opportunists prone to cherry-picking (potentially deadly) half truths

Suffice to say… I’d never want any of my raw theories to become copied and pasted and/or screen shot quotations.

Naturally… it’d not be acting irresponsibly to remind my readers that unpardonable horse’s ass politicians and piggish economists are still overruling (excessively governing) time-honored pandemic scientists / epidemiologists and, as such, we’d all be well-advised to exceed the current, watered down health and safety guidelines.

In essence… that wisdom fully lives up to Hippocrates’ first-do-no-harm proviso.
