April BlogCast ~ Timeless Heartfelt Sentiments

Welcome to our monthly musical get-together.

We, who came of age in the Sixties… an era seething with military madness, political unrest and societal upheaval… had no shortage of songs interwoven with antiwar, political and social commentary. These TIMELY and TIMELESS song lyrics pointed squarely at (in some cases with the middle digit) the aggression and injustices, which were sullying and degrading humanity all across America and throughout our world.

Throughout the decades that followed, when liberal minded presidents were at the helm, we did manage to take some baby steps towards extricating ourselves from such ills. But… to keep it real… there were also conservatives who would not stand for any part of what we stood for… who were (still are) hell bent on undoing any and all progress. Which means…

There still is so much of our work that remains undone.

More recently, Barack Obama, our nation’s very first biracial President, did offer average Jane and Joe Americans that sunny ray of hope. But his plan to effect change we could all believe in head-on collided with political gridlock… “courtesy” of his obdurate opponents. Net effect, these archconservatives had been the political equivalent of an endless, total eclipse of the sun.

And considering how the present-day, backward, reptilian brained, Tyrant-o-saurus Rex has been on a national and international rampage… making his primary ongoing mission to muddy and cover up each and every forward moving footprint his predecessor had left… well… now more than ever, there is an ever-growing need to “air” this month’s BlogCast songs.

On a more positive note, if such lyrical sentiments are ever, truly taken to heart by the powers-that-be, we could wind up with an energizing soundtrack that’ll, eventually, fight and win the war against aggression, oppression and discrimination in all of their grotesque, deplorable forms. Well, at least we can dream about it, right?

You likely noticed those two capitalized and italicized “T” words at the outset of this blog. The TIMELY and TIMELESS quality of this music has the capability of engaging critical thinkers wherever we may be… at the very least… inspiring a far greater liberal turnout at the polls this midterm election year.

On a more technical note: Admittedly, choosing between featuring original recordings vs. cover versions was a tough call. To resolve this, I’ve formatted the covers to appear onsite and link to the originals offsite over @YouTube. For any of you, who choose to click onto the smaller font’s artist/song names beneath each vid’s main title, you’ll be treated to a comparative study of the earlier artists’ interpretations / renditions.

So, sans any further delay, let’s all ear and eyewitness how all of these recording artists have so adeptly and passionately infused their heart and soul into the musical mix. Be these songs Sixties era or more recent, they’ve kept my hope alive… and hopefully yours too… hope for a better global society and better tomorrows.

As consequential, expressive and inspirational this program’s timeless songs have been, what a shame that the political wasteland we are presently slogging through has made them so desperately needed and damned relevant. Maybe someday they’ll be played purely based on their musical merits. Someday…

Nightmares And Dreams

Fifty years ago, on this very evening, the same Zenith console TV set, which, five years earlier, had been my window to the spinning out of control world of Dallas, Texas… the site of President Kennedy’s assassination… was “now” providing me a similar view of Memphis, Tennessee.

My recollections are now strong… almost as if I’ve time traveled back to this tragedy. I’m once again an adolescent, age 13, home alone since my folks have gone out for the evening to watch my sister’s performance in her High School Junior Class play. I’d have eagerly tagged along with them had it not been for my body being under siege by a particularly nasty rhinovirus.

Once again, Walter Cronkite has become the bearer of bad news. Once again, his reportage focuses heavily on the death of someone so young and so vital… someone who had said so much of importance… and still needed to say so much more.

Dr. Martin Luther King had been slaughtered, silenced… cut down in his prime… by an assassin’s bullet.

I’m stunned and saddened… those identical, sinking, heavy heart, Dallas magnitude feelings now resurfacing. I had so hoped that in the five years since November 22, 1963, that America had changed… well… at least a little? But knowing that it hadn’t was sickening me far, Far, FAR more than any of my cold’s worst symptoms.

Dr. King must have already seen the sickening writing on the wall… his final speech best described as prophetic…

Senator Bobby Kennedy, a 1968 presidential candidate, delivered his from the heart speech (note how he doesn’t rely on his notes)… deemed to be his finest, ever, oratory. He also gets credited with preventing riots in Indianapolis. Many other cities… nationwide… could not make such a claim.

So, why do I, a Caucasian, feel so strongly about Dr. King? Mainly because I’m a caring, compassionate, colorblind human being.

Beyond that, I do know that poverty, too, is colorblind. I could readily identify with King’s fight to help hardworking, struggling, impoverished Americans achieve The Dream he had spoken of. After all, if there was one thing my eye witnessing my own, low income, schoolteacher parents had taught me, it was that our family of four was unduly burdened by our barely scraping by lifestyle.

To this very day, I can still vividly recall handing over seven, one dollar bills to my Dad… several years worth of my hoarded allowance money, which he had given to me… just so we could put some food on our dinner table that evening. Oh, how my hand-me-down clothing’s patches always had patches. Oh, how I remember our slumlord’s coal fired furnace that could’ve easily carbon monoxide gassed us all to death.

I could never forget (and still can never forget) all the bullies at school, who had verbally and physically assaulted me… even spitting in my face. I now ask… in some small sense… had I not had my own bitter taste as to what it was like to be singled out… profiled… discriminated against… by oppressors?

And while Dr. King’s fight was focused upon helping African-Americans, I believed his spiritual and practical messages to be universal. If ever taken to heart by the elected powers-that-be, that would’ve certainly made my own family’s life… indeed, every impoverished family’s life… better too.

Fast forwarding to more contemporary times… while it’s true it took far, Far, FAR too many decades… no, strike that… centuries in arriving, America did wind up electing and reelecting Barack Obama as our 44th president. In my mind, this was a gleaming ray of hope that We The People were finally turning our backs on our nation’s racist past. And I’ve never been more proud to say that I had had a small part in making that a reality… by my voting for that intelligent, insightful, righteous man both in 2008 and 2012.

But now? Regrettably, America is being gutted by #45, who sucks up to both the KKK and Nazis… who takes sides with racist cops who profile and mow down innocent blacks… who lambastes pro football quarterback Colin Kaepernick who has frequently, justifiably and peaceably protested such police brutality and racial inequality by harmlessly taking a knee during the pregame playing of America’s National Anthem. Which raises the question…

Will this now ongoing, Trumpian nightmare obliterate Dr. Martin Luther King’s dream?

That’ll depend upon whether or not Democrats can regain Congressional majorities this coming November.

Who Put the Bug Up Tweety’s… uh… Tower?

#45 is at it again. Via his Tweeting, he’s making what appears to be a wild allegation. Sans mentioning sources or citing any corroborating evidence, he claims that during his 2016 campaign, President Barack Obama resorted to using Tricky Dicky’s Watergate tactics… for the express purpose of wiretapping Tweety’s Tower.

Hmmm… if true… to what end? Hell, none of that helped elect Hillary Clinton. I mean he does realize he’s #45, doesn’t he?

OK… let’s give Tweety the benefit of the doubt and say he’s not reporting “fake news”.

Yes, I do get it… it’s only natural for us to feel violated when we’re spied on. But what Tweety seems to have forgotten is that, in our post 9/11 world, there is no such thing as privacy anymore. The NSA, Department of Homeland Security and U.S. Patriot Act have pretty much liberated everybody of our liberty.

Hell… whenever anyone… be it you, me or #45… complains about invasion of our privacy, our objections will head-on collide with this deadpanned catchphrase…

“If you have nothing to hide you have nothing to worry about.”

Anyway, what’s Tweety worried about? I mean… he’s got nothing to hide, right?

Or maybe he does?

True, Obama has denied any wrongdoing in this matter, mainly because he could not legally order a wiretap. But what if zero wrongdoing was involved? Might there have been a legitimate reason for the proper authorities ordering such a wiretap? Oh… say… Tweety always fawning over Vladimir Putin?

Of course we cannot dismiss the possibility that this “bug” could even belong to Vladimir Putin, himself! Does #45 actually believe that Putin’s cyberattacking / meddling in the 2016 U.S. elections (which helped install him into the Oval Office) comes without any price tag at all?

#45 needs to realize that control freak Putin is still calling all the shots, which necessitates keeping close tabs on his puppet. Worse yet, since Tweety’s congressional cronies don’t seem to be concerned, in the least, there’s not one damned thing anyone can do to stop such Russian interference.

Ironically, while #45 is constantly obsessing about building walls around America there seems to be little talk of any plans to fortify the firewalls around U.S. cyberspace.

Of course we cannot dismiss the possibility that Tweety’s Tweets could be akin to “Wag the Dog” tactics… his feeble attempt to distract investigative journalists… prevent them from expeditiously exposing what’s really going on between Putin and #45.

Of course we cannot dismiss the possibility that #45’s Tweets are to either make him appear mentally disturbed… or he actually is so afflicted. Either way, it would provide a powerful defense whenever anyone attempts to hold Tweety accountable for his deplorable (perhaps even treasonous) conduct.

My Farewell Message to the Last POTUS… Barack Obama

Dear President Obama,

My landline’s answering machine logged and recorded the following message on Sunday, November 2, 2008 at 2:45 p.m.

“Hi! This is Barack Obama. Tuesday’s Election Day and now is the time to let our voices be heard at the polls. We have a lot at stake in this historic election. There is a clear choice between more of the same from the Republicans and the change I will bring to Washington, DC. So, please go to the polls on Tuesday. Take your friends and family with you and cast a vote for the change we need. Thanks so much. Bye-bye.”

Mr. President, long before your phone call, your campaign’s substance and style had wowed me and won me over… EARNED both my vote and undying respect.

Within two days, I found myself walking (at a brisk pace) to my nearby polling place (my once upon a time high school). As I began marking my paper ballot, I not only sensed the history, which you had alluded to, but also your imminent victory. While watching my completed ballot getting sucked into the slot, it dawned on me that I had never been so impressed by a presidential candidate since…

…1972, when, as a newly turned eighteen-year-old, I had voted for George McGovern.

…1960, when, as a six-year-old, my mother had hoisted me up in the voting booth to permit me to downward shift the lever next to John F. Kennedy’s name.

As the 2008 Election Night returns started filtering in, sure enough, state-by-state, the map of America was turning a dazzling, predominantly blue hue. I felt so thrilled that our nation appeared to be finally shedding our ugly, racist past.

Unfortunately, appearances can be deceiving… i.e., in shedding their white sheets and hoods, not everyone was amenable.

Soon after you took the Oath of Office, we discovered several ugly and inconvenient truths, namely…

  1. The GOP’s dishonorable, tantrum throwing, white elephant legislators would neither honor the concept of majority rules nor allow most of your campaign trail’s promised programs to ever see the light of day. You even had a hell of a time getting your appointees approved. Most notably, regrettably and tragically… your SCOTUS nominee, Merrick Garland, was doomed to languish in that obscene, oppressive, obstructionist limbo.
  2. The GOP is imbued and infested with racism… many of their Wonder Bread elite (still) wrongfully considering you to be only a 3/5 human being who isn’t the U.S. citizen and man, who you are.
  3. The work that We had sent you to Washington to do on our behalf (in too many instances) would be limited to executive orders that your successor can (and will) promptly run through the shredder. Little doubt, #45 will reduce the bulk of the U.S. Constitution / Bill of Rights to constitutional confetti, too.

Yet, in spite of your first term’s constant head-on collisions with these closeted Klansmen… We, indeed, thumbed our noses / whipped our middle digits at them to defy them… and most importantly… to make damned sure We’d reelect you in 2012.

Throughout your two-term tenure, We, the open-minded, were impressed by your intelligent leadership and so proud to call you our President. What you had worked was nothing short of a miracle. You saved America after your immediate predecessor’s reign of terror had mucked up nearly everything.

We knew that if a crisis situation were to ever arise, we could count on you to act responsibly (not recklessly) to preserve, protect and defend America… to always relegate war to the bottom of the list of options.

Internationally… You did all you could to reduce America’s presence in W’s devastated and destabilized Afghanistan and Iraq. Regrettably, even over a decade later, those battlefields still remain a quagmire.

Suffice to say, it is unforgivable how your sociopathic predecessor (that warmonger, war profiteer and torture chamber proprietor) had deliberately and corruptly cherry-picked the intelligence to concoct the FANTASY of Saddam Hussein’s WMD and links to 9/11… which had falsely justified W’s provocation of his endless, NO-WIN Iraq war.

What makes this even more tragic is tens of thousands of troops, needlessly wound up wounded and suffering from PTSD and 4,491 (and still counting) have died. The incalculable amount of civilians (likely multiple millions) also needlessly suffered a similar fate. Also unforgiveable was how W had bombed the crap out of a region a.k.a. Mesopotamia… “The Cradle of Civilization”.

Mr. President, your brains over brawn approach amply demonstrated how America could’ve successfully hunted down Osama bin Laden and other al Qaeda big shots without provoking either of W’s wars.

Domestically… You improved health, both figuratively and literally… saved us from the depths of W’s depression / the flat lining Wall Street collapse and, most dramatically, you reduced unemployment and saved the tanking out, living on fumes auto industry. Via Obamacare, 20 MILLION folks now have a better shot at getting and staying healthy.

You took those first steps toward the U.S. doing it’s share to alleviate global warming.

You fought for racial, gender / LGBTQ equality, religious tolerance and worker’s rights.

You ensured Lady Liberty’s torch would continue shining brightly… that liberty and justice would flourish for all!

On your watch we could count on your maturity and sobriety… we felt peace of mind and could fall asleep a lot easier than during W’s reign of terror.

I wish We could say the same once your successor gets sworn in (as of my posting time) in a little over 24 hours from now. However, We fully expect his insensitivity and incendiary nature to prevail.

I know I now speak on behalf of the bulk of this past November’s other 59,938,289 Hillary Clinton voters when I say, “We the intellectual and ethical folks will forever thank you and miss you.”

It has been our distinct honor and privilege to have known you, Mr. President… America’s very last POTUS.

BTW, long ago, I decided to save that 2008 message you left on my phone’s answering machine. I know I’ll be playing it back a lot over the course of the next four years OR until whenever that nuclear saber rattler Tweets most of our world’s seven plus billion souls into an early grave… buries our bodily ashes beneath the global ground zero rubble and radioactive dust.

Even if #45, somehow, manages to spare us from instantaneous immolation by those nuclear blasts / asphyxiation from those smothering mushroom clouds, his flat-out destruction of societal, ecological and economic conditions might even make some of us long for that more merciful, instantaneous nuclear apocalypse.

My apologies for ending this on a downer… but that’s precisely the type of ‘tude #45 “inspires”.

Mr. President… I wish you and your family all the best in whatever time remains for our beloved America and precious world.

My fond farewell, my friend!

Bad Political Traits Oft Breed True

America’s Founding Fathers had conceived of the Electoral College to prevent voters from picking pathetic presidents. Unfortunately, too frequently, these College “students” have “flunked out”. They’ve failed to perceive negative character traits and ideological mutations, which pollute the political gene pool… breed true… resulting in one lousy administration propagating the next.

Let’s assign a title to this political procreative process…

The Book of Political Genesis

In the beginning there was Ronald Reagan’s revolting régime… which begat George H.W. Bush’s thousand points of blight… which begat Bill Clinton’s Animal House Oval Office… which begat war criminal / torturer George W. Bush’s reign of terror…

Ronald Reagan ~ In violation of Logan Act of 1799 (which expressly forbids private citizens from meddling in foreign affairs), private citizen Reagan executed an end run around President Jimmy Carter to cut a secret, dirty deal with Iran’s Ayatollah Khomeini, who agreed to delay releasing his 52 U.S. Embassy hostages. That made Carter look wimpy in the eyes of the voters and, in turn, assured Reagan victory. Reagan’s payoff to Khomeini was providing him sufficient quantities of US arms and spare parts to help Iran fight their war against Iraq.

In essence, Reagan had prolonged the hostages’ misery… indeed, had endangered their very lives… just for his own political gain.

With that dirty deal with Iran under his belt, Ronnie then raged onward to mercilessly bust labor unions and, via Reaganomics, devastate the American / global economy… plunge the middleclass into poverty… the already impoverished into abject squalor.

George H.W. Bush ~ Reagan’s VP succeeded his X-boss and succeeded at heaping yet another four years’ worth of Reaganomics manure upon the downtrodden masses. He wound up mucking up the U.S. economy so badly that the PO’d voters were more than ready to vote for a Democrat, instead.

Bill Clinton ~ His “It’s the economy, stupid,” presidential campaign catchphrase resonated well with average Jane and Joe voters. He had successfully ridden the tidal wave of voter discontent to rid America of GHWB.

Alas, Billy Boy’s inability to keep his pants zipped up only served to screw up his image. His Republican opponents constantly had him in political CYA mode. In other words, Billy’s infamous female intern, Monica Lewinsky, had helped him blow away a brighter future for America.

And that, in turn, tarnished the image of Clinton’s VP, Al Gore, who had had high hopes for perpetuating eight more years of Democratic Party values. Instead, Billy’s sexcapades had put the voters into a “throw the bums out” mood, which had afforded Gore’s Republican opponent, George W. Bush, the ILLUSION of maturity, morality and respectability.

George W. Bush ~ Knowing he could not win merely on smoke and mirrors, alone, he needed help. Entering stage (far) right was Florida Governor (and W’s own brother) Jeb, who gleefully corrupted the Sunshine State… morphed it into a devoid of free elections Banana Republic “nation”. The net result was a too close to call tally of that state’s ballots.

Following Election Day, for over one month, the political firestorm blazed. The flames were soon licking at the doors of the corrupt U.S. Supreme Court, where five rabidly unscrupulous, archconservative judges practically soiled their underwear in ecstasy while coming to the aid of the lawless Bush family. It hadn’t bothered them, in the least that their ruling had denied Al Gore the recount, which he had been legally entitled to. All that mattered to them was installing the corrupt King George II.

But, after only seven months in office, W had grown listless and bored. Ergo, he decided to take a much-undeserved vacation. So eager to slack off, he had flipped off his August 6, 2001 Presidential Daily Briefing… an ominous heads up, titled:

“Bin Laden Determined To Strike in US”

Had W heeded that warning, as it turned out, he would’ve had five weeks to beef up America’s defenses. Seeing how W had chosen not to lift one finger to thwart al Qaeda’s evil plot to take out America… did zip zero nothing to preserve, protect and defend America while Osama’s assault was going down… it becomes easy for us to conclude that the Bush 43 admin had actually wanted America to be attacked.

Even worse, W’s wranglers put a spin on his getting caught with his CIC pants down… created the flat out ILLUSION that their little wittle boy president was a big badass, courageous leader (well at least they correctly assessed the “ass” part of his image).

What ensued next was not a pretty picture. W opted to go to war against an ideology… one, which knows no specific geographical location. He first deployed the troops to bomb the crap out of Afghanistan’s boulders and dirt and then trained his crosshairs on Iraq’s oil.

W told bald-faced lies to the U.S. Senate to give them the impression that Saddam Hussein had ties to 9/11… to successfully dupe Senators into green lighting a bogus war against Iraq.

Ergo, on March 19, 2003, W needlessly deployed U.S. troops… unnecessarily put them in harms way. The resultant destabilization of that entire region has made our world a far more dangerous place.

As of my blog posting time, war criminal mass murderer / torturer W is the butcher who slaughtered an estimated 251,000 people, inclusive of 4,497 American troops.

Barack Obama ~ His administration has been the rare exception… one where recessive, good political traits have surfaced. Enjoy them while they last because his likely successor will be…

Donald Trump ~ He exhibits outrageously inappropriate ignorant, insensitive, incendiary, sexist, and racist attitudes which are totally unpresidential and do not represent what the real America is all about.

But, he is correct about one thing. His telling us the 2016 November elections will be rigged. But, what he isn’t telling us is that he will be the one who’ll be rigging them. Most assuredly, he has the wherewithal to muck everything up just to try to sate his own massive ego and political lust.

Since the Electoral College “class of 2016” is likely to flunk out just like their predecessors… Trump’s bad political traits will breed true. As for what that will begat?

Remembering Port Arthur, Tasmania

On this day 20 years ago, a murderer went on a rampage for 20+ hours in Port Arthur, Tasmania… at a former Australian prison colony and now popular tourist attraction. Armed with a Colt AR-15 SP1 Carbine and L1A1 SLR Battle Rifle, he opened fire…

Dead 35… Wounded 23…

For committing one of the deadliest mass murders the world has ever witnessed, his punishment was 35 life sentences (1,035 years) without any chance for parole. At present, he is currently doing his time in the psychiatric wing of Risdon Prison in Hobart, Tasmania.

While imprisonment of that nature may’ve made society rest a bit easier… one has to wonder… are this killer’s victims truly resting in peace?

btw, I’ve decided not to identify the perpetrator, by name, because any publicity runs the risk of breeding / emboldening copycats. Also absent from this posting will be name naming vids and links. For inquiring minds, Google searches can flesh out my skeletal blog.

So… what’s a national leader to do?

Former Australian Prime Minister John Howard, via the National Firearms Programme Implementation Act of 1996, managed to usher in strict gun control… and ever since then?

Mass shooting incidents have dropped to  ZERO!

Now… if only President Barack Obama could convince the NRA dominated, mostly GOP, knuckle-dragging, knuckle-headed Representatives and Senators to pass no-nonsense legislation… America could become a far less deadly place to live.

Just to be clear here…  nobody is saying that hunters should be denied the right to shoot critters for their dinner tables. A legal crackdown should only involve those who are mentally unstable and/or seek excessive firepower and/or intend to train their weapons’ crosshairs upon human beings.

Yes, I’d love to see a world where there were Zip-ZERO-No guns at all… but in our gunsick society… we’ll have to settle for taking baby steps.

That all duly noted, let’s now return to our own President’s woes. Considering how those gridlocking, DC legislators are so bigheaded and pigheaded, it’s a forgone conclusion that by the time Obama leaves office?

Zip-ZERO-Nothing of major significance will have become the law of the land.

It would appear that, unless there can be some change we can believe in… “We the People” will continue to go through life with big, blood-red bullseyes pasted on our backs… and…

The future of America is… figuratively… and quite literally… shot to Hell!

Could Matthew 5:39 End The Madness?

¶1 Defining “mad”… it’s feeling PO’d… e.g., folks indigenous to the Middle East rightfully feeling mad as hell because the U.S. had trespassed on their home turf… more specifically… America had stationed troops in Saudi Arabia. In a nutshell, Osama bin Laden would’ve calmed down had he gotten the U.S. to peacefully stand down (as in America getting the the hell out). But we didn’t… and so “mad” took on a whole new connotation.

¶2 Redefining “mad”… it’s going “just plain nuts”… e.g., a man woke up one sunshiny, Tuesday morning, chowed down his Cheerios and then, as he headed out the front door, he grabbed his car keys, kissed the missus and said, “Oh honey… I won’t be home for dinner… flight 11 out of Logan will be making an unscheduled stop at the WTC.” She reacted by saying, “Oh… OK dear… have a safe drive to the airport.”

Good Morning to you all. As I write this… it is an early a.m. Sunday… a time of the week I usually devote to deep thought. The question I ask myself..: and now, of course, you, too…

Is there a method to my madness? That asked… I’ll now restart this blog… you can decide…

¶1 outlines just one of the key underlying motives behind 9/11. ¶2 showcases the deadly way, which Osama bin Ladin’s soldiers had so matter-of-factly channeled their unresolved and unresolvable anger. True, that domestic, spousal interaction scene is my dramatization … but it does accurately portray that “just doing my job,” “punch the timeclock” “whatever it takes” terrorist ‘tude.

So… to CliffsNotes it… past diplomatic problems have turned into the present-day psychiatric problems… a.k.a., the madness of terrorism. I mean… nobody gets to the point of no return (as described in ¶2) on a whim. We drove people in the Middle East nuts. We hadn’t addressed problems with diplomacy before it was too late… and now… in all likelihood… it is too late. In essence… re 9/11? We did it to ourselves.

We’re nearly 15 years into our post 9/11 nightmare and, with each new attack, it feels like we’re no closer to ending the War on Terror than we were in 2001. President Obama even knocked off Osama bin Laden and, beyond exacting revenge, what else do we have to show for it?

OK… that sums up the past and present. So… where do we go from here?

I suspect that due to decades worth of failed U.S. foreign policy, exacerbated by George W. Bush’s squandering of the free world’s, post 9/11, international goodwill AND his further mucking things up by going on the offensive in Afghanistan and Iraq (the latter nation having no direct ties to 9/11) have made any attempts at peace talks impossible… yep that diplomatic ship has sailed off on a one-way trip to nowhere. Ergo we cannot talk our way out of this mess.

Additionally… President Obama has been sufficiently wise to wind down W’s offensive wars. The Prez understands we cannot fight our way out of this mess.

So what is left? Folks, all the U.S. can do is brace itself (further strengthen Homeland Security) and cross our fingers that we can keep the carnage to a minimum.

Accept the fact that this War on Terror is a no-win war to the end of time. In the not too distant future, “Mad’ just might take on another whole new connotation.

Redefining “M.A.D.”… that’d be Mutual Assured Destruction… e.g., where terrorists go nuclear. True… they’d die along with those who they attack… but… has not suicide been their shtick all along?

But… is that all there REALLY is? Might we be able to “pray” ourselves out of this mess?

As of late, I’ve been wondering. Is it time for a Hail Mary Pass? To face down the al Qaeda / ISIS Holy War with the Holy Book? Turning to Matthew 5:39…

“But I say to you, do not resist an evil person; but whoever slaps you on your right cheek, turn the other to him also.”

IF the U.S. turns the other cheek, I believe this just might totally freak out the terrorist world. Forsaking the offensive strategy could be a fatal blow to morale amongst the terrorist troops. Re U.S. passive resistance, some of them might even say, “Damn it… this ain’t no fun no more… I quit!”

And what could terrorist “management” do to stop their troops from going AWOL, threaten to kill them? Is it even possible to instill fear in those who’ve been programmed to blow themselves up?

And how could “management” find replacements after the whole world watches as the U.S. marches off to battle terrorism “armed” “only” with Matthew 5:39?

Redefining “mad”, yet, a fourth time… upon going back to reread my post… methinks that CommonSenseTom just may’ve gone mad, himself. What do you think?

If I am wrong… I now ask… “Where Do We Go From Here?”
