Dumb Donald the Never Prepared Boy Scout

From 1973 – 82, Match Game’s staff writers were supplying emcee Gene Rayburn with a slew of fill-in-the-blank, off-beat scenarios for him to recite to the celebrity panelists and contestants. The cleverness of these writers, at times, did flirt with clairvoyance.

Case in point… their Dumb Donald storylines, which portray him as the hapless man who stumbles clumsily and cluelessly through life… uh… not unlike today’s Real Donald who stumbles clumsily and cluelessly through his public and private life.

By blog’s end, when we view today’s Match Game clip, we’ll discover the moody, snarky, adolescent incarnation of Dumb Donald… the defiant Boy Scout who’s ONLY prepared to rebel against authority.

How moody, snarky and rebellious is he? Let’s let Mr. Rayburn clue us in…

“Dumb Donald, the Boy Scout, is so dumb,
when the Scoutmaster told him to pitch a
tent, Donald said, “You pitch it, I’ll _____ it.”

At this point, it’ll be time for the six celeb panelists and contestant Bill Clark to attempt a mind meld. If all goes well, everyone will come up with the identical, definitive response. So, while they’re all brainstorming, that’ll give us time to discover how well the Dumb Donald and Real Donald match.

For starters, both punks detest and defy authority figures. It’s Dumb Donald vs. Scoutmaster. It’s Real Donald vs. Genuine Journalists. It’s Real Donald vs. Honorable Democratic Congresspersons. It’s Real Donald vs. Doctor Anthony Fauci.

And then there’s the matter of the Boy Scout Oath…

“On my honor, I will do my best; To do my duty to God and my country and to obey the Scout Law; To help other people at all times; To keep myself physically strong, mentally awake and morally straight.”

Just how credible would we deem either Donald, were they to recite it? The hypocrisy would be especially glaring when it’s the Real Donald’s “turn”… i.e., the physically corpulent, mentally disturbed and morally bankrupt bad boy who routinely flouts / flips off his own Oath of Office.

How could we expect the Real Donald to even begin “To help other people at all times” when, at all times, he loathes women, the LGBTQIA community, the ailing and infirm, Jews, Muslims, African-Americans, Mexicans, Asians and on and on and on.

And then we must factor in the Scouts’ “Be Prepared” philosophy, which neither Donald would even be prepared to correctly recite, let alone, take to heart.

“Be Prepared in Mind by having disciplined yourself to be obedient to every order, and also by having thought out beforehand any accident or situation that might occur, so that you know the right thing to do at the right moment, and are willing to do it. Be Prepared in Body by making yourself strong and active and able to do the right thing at the right moment, and do it.”

For proof of the Real Donald’s abysmal lack of preparedness all we, the socially isolating folks, now numbered in the multiple millions, need do is look out our windows at the world that a pandemic has ground to a halt… a pandemic, which inflicts untold human suffering and pointless death… a pandemic which devastates lives, livelihoods and entire economies…

A pandemic which Donald J. Trump could’ve avoided had he been a good scout… had he been prepared to promptly, proactively and persistently confront Coronavirus… to halt, dead in its tracks, its deadly rampage.

While it almost seems anticlimactic, let’s now playback the Match Game clip to find out how the celebs and contestant Clark filled in the blank, in this Dumb Donald scenario, and how often they match…

PO’d Right Down To My D-N-A!

I hear you… I hear you… I hear you…

You’re as sick and tired of reading about that un-american, so-called prez as I’m sick and tired of blogging about him. Even so, I cannot let the following, specific matter slide on by. What it involves is the insufferable speech he delivered, just last Monday, at the Glen Jean, West Virginia Boy Scout Jamboree.

It did take me awhile to even figure out why, exactly, I was so upset. And believe me… this goes way beyond my being a liberal… even exceeds the fact #45’s words (which were supposed to be apolitically themed) reeked of rambling, campaign rallying tactics, shameless self-aggrandizement / compulsive ego stroking… everything teetering on the edge of self-abuse (fulfilled?). Long blog short…

My being PO’d goes right down to my literal, infinitesimal D-N-A!

Indeed, what’s been working OT, here, is my biologically programmed-in paternal instinct / need to protect young’uns from harm. What makes this even more remarkable is that I’ve never even been a father to anyone.

And from this “dad’s” POV, last Monday, #45 was abusing children / contributing to the delinquency of minors. Of course, why should that surprise anyone? After all, he’s already notorious for abusing women, ethnic minorities, non-Christians, LGBTQs, the aged/ailing AND the hard working impoverished.

The video, below, provides ample evidence of how his words corrupted tens of thousands of way too impressionable Boy Scouts. Suggestions while watching:

  1. Note how far too many of them had been swept up into mindlessly bleating out chants of “Sieg Heil! Sieg Heil! Sieg Heil!” … uh… excuse me… “USA! USA! USA!” Did that creep you out and concern you as much as it did me?
  1. Ask yourself… is not #45 the antithesis of the Boy Scouts’ core values?

“A [Boy] Scout is trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous,

kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean and reverent.”

So… would it be possible for parental instincts to overpower #45’s pungent, political stink? Could D-N-A trump D-O-N? Well, only if the parents of these Boy Scouts are as PO’d as I am… only if they use that Jamboree speech as a teaching moment… i.e., take their sons (and daughters) aside to tell them to use #45 as the perfect example… OF WHO NOT TO BE!
