Clearly, early voting is still ongoing all across America. What isn’t so clear is IF our electorate has been actually seeing the Big Picture.

That’s because, typically, we do vote our own pocketbooks and, needless to say, there hasn’t been much to be happy about. As is true with most of my average American compatriots, inflation has been hemorrhaging my own limited assets.

Nonetheless… I will NEITHER be blaming Democrats for a mucked up economic mess created and exacerbated by corporate price gouging, broken supply chain issues and ignoranus (<– not a typo) Vladimir Putin’s Ukraine war; NOR will I be punishing said Democrats by voting in MAGA Republicans whose ONE AND ONLY solution to economic woes is heaping on even more economic woes; typically by lavishing utterly undeserved tax breaks upon the wealthiest of the wealthy.

Need I even remind… The upward redistribution of wealth has never improved the lives of commoners (I among them).

Worse yet, there’s a dangerous and disastrous flip side to these MAGA maggots’ greed; namely, their aiding and abetting Donald J. Trump’s ongoing conspiracy; i.e., his plot to usurp power (come January 20, 2025), cling to it till his last day on Earth and, in turn, forever burn down Democracy.

Flipping off / filling in the particulars… This election year, there are nearly 300 candidates, nationwide, who’ve been totally suckered into Donald J. Trump “2020 Election Fraud” Big Lie. IF (more like WHEN) empowered (especially the state level Secretaries of State), they will be hellbent on mucking up all future elections and, as such, they’ll easily devolve America into a Fascist Dictatorship. And in saying “mucking up”, I mean they’ll be disenfranchising voters by shredding their legitimately cast ballots.

The obvious solution is for every true American to deny them that power; to non-violently trump Trump as well as every last one of his Fascistic Freaks / MAGA Minions.

We MUST preserve, protect and defend American FREEDOM by voting in Democrats up and down the entire ballot. I’ll be HAND DELIVERING my own, completed absentee ballot to my local election officials before 8 p.m. tomorrow / Election Day.

I do fully understand that any plan to hire / rehire Democrats is, at best, an imperfect solution because, far too oft, they lack the spine to do the work we send them to DC to do; and even if they do the work, they’re poor at messaging their accomplishments to their constituents.

However, I also recognize that when confronted by our two party ONLY system, that necessitates our always voting for the lesser of two evils.

And, to be clear here, WTF could be more evil than Trump and his yes-men / henchmen insurrectionists?

Stated in a more practical vein… We the People will have a far better chance of on-the-job training Democrats to (eventually) see things more clearly (act more progressively and courageously) THAN attempting to oust autocratic MAGA Republicans; renown for whipping their collective middle finger at our Founding Fathers’ precepts of Democracy; to e.g. just one, their Constitutionally established, orderly. peaceful transition of power.

Beyond that… Every qualified, clear thinking voter must cast their ballot prior to the polls closing tomorrow evening, November 8th. America’s very survival does hang in the balance…

Then they came for _________ !

What if, worst case scenario (from the perspective of We the Enlightened Inclusive People), Donald J. Trump’s boneheaded bigotry goes full blown Hitler… i.e., he commits genocide and America winds up lily white. Would that mean that he and his Klansmen and Nazi pals… from their perspective of course… could all live happily ever after?

Don’t count on it. If Trump had nobody left to vilify, how would that narcissist ever be able to continue drawing attention to himself / get suckers to suck up to him / get racists to rally around him / maintain his choke-hold on power?

Obviously, he would declare new Enemies of the State to “fine tune” HIS Master Race.

Little doubt he’d next target Democrats, Liberals, Intellectuals, Muslims, Jews, Feminists (and like-minded males), the LGBTQIA’s, the Aged and Infirm, the Left Handed and (factoring in his objectification of women / penchant for porn stars and playmates), perhaps everybody below a C-cup?

Hell, he could even order his underlings to hack into the data bases of genomics and biotechnology companies… i.e. to ferret out anyone who’s not a “perfect” 100% Caucasian?

If you find yourself saying, “Nah, that all sounds too farfetched. It’ll never happen!”… well… let’s just say that were theologian Martin Niemöller, still alive today, he’d shrewdly disagree by saying…

Brett Kavanaugh’s Pervasive Evasiveness

 

Brett Kavanaugh’s choked back tears during yesterday’s Senate Judiciary Committee hearing were understandable. Weighing heavily upon his mind is Christine Blasey Ford’s allegation that he attempted to rape her three+ decades ago and how this front-page news has jeopardized his SCOTUS appointment, stressed out his marriage and necessitated awkward discussions with his young daughters.

True, Kavanaugh adamantly maintains his innocence, however, the only ways that’d even be possible is if this is EITHER a case of mistaken identity OR that… against the backdrop of this amoral, Trumpian era… attempted rape is no longer considered a crime.

While I’m a lifelong liberal, what compels me to believe Ford’s testimony rather than Kavanaugh’s goes way beyond partisan politics.

What defies all logic is how a man, who so steadfastly claims he didn’t do it, would not be demanding another FBI investigation and even a polygraph examination… both of which could conceivably restore his public image, ease the stress within his private life and reward him with the very SCOTUS job he lusts for.

Adding more sour notes to Kavanaugh’s so-called choirboy image is his stonewalling of the Senate Judiciary Committee Democrats’ legitimate questions, many of which only had required a simple yes or no response. Worse yet… despite the Committee’s rules against filibustering… he incessantly rambled on nonsensically… embellishing his non-answers with a barrage of circumlocution, non-sequiturs and inconsequentials… all for the express purpose of running out the clock.

And make no mistake here, Kavanaugh afforded the wildly partisan, madman, Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley the perfect opportunity to gleefully, promptly enforce the five minute rule to repeatedly shut up / shut down the Democrats… i.e., to thwart all of their honest attempts to establish the truth… either all on their own or with the subsequent FBI assist they unanimously requested. As to be expected… the Republicans adamantly and fallaciously maintained that it is now too late for such an investigation.

Well… for the edification of the Senate Judiciary Committee’s recalcitrant Republicans… it’s never too late to investigate.

More to the point… one would expect a Supreme Court judge wannabe to insist on establishing the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth.

Why would Brett Kavanaugh ever object to that… that is… unless the truth would clearly establish his guilt?

The rightwing-dominated media has brainwashed whatever voters have yet to succumb to apathy. These “voters” then foolishly elect Republicans, who (to ensure the GOP’s power proliferates and metastasizes) continue gerrymandering (redrawing) state legislative district boundaries… making it damn near impossible to elect Democrats and Indies.

2016’s elections have ratcheted up their subversive plot… netted Republicans a Federal chokehold (Executive – Legislative – Judicial branches) and granted them ownership of 32 state legislatures and 34 governors’ mansions.

A couple of election cycles from now, the GOP could reach Article V’s threshold of 38 states required to amend kill the U.S. Constitution.

What if the 2016 elections involve a crisis reminiscent of Gore vs. Bush? Let’s say lower courts permit Hillary Clinton’s ballot recount and Donald Trump appeals upward to the U.S. Supreme Court.

Due to Antonin Scalia’s death, the remaining eight ideologically deadlocked judges would be unable to decide… meaning Clinton’s lower court victory would stand.

If her recount then made her POTUS, the Republicans, who’ve blocked President Obama’s attempt to appoint Scalia’s successor, would have only themselves to blame!

A clear-cut case decided by Poetic Justice!

Would Obama’s appointee have ruled pro-Hillary, anyway? Well, that’s something we’ll never, ever know.

Recently, Donald Trump mentioned former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s deleted emails… tacking on the following “invitation”…

“Russia, if you’re listening, I hope you’re able to find the 30,000 emails that are missing. I think you will probably be rewarded mightily by our press.”

So, what’d stop Russia’s cyberspace invasion from including devastating attacks upon America’s financial institutions, power / communications grids AND nuclear power plants?

Fear of retaliation.

However… terrorists do not feel such fear.

They, too, heard Trump’s “invitation”. How will they RSVP?

What’ll germinate from the seeds Trump has sown in terrorists’ fertile “minds”?

Another 9/11?

We’re Already Being Denied Our Voice

If there is such a thing as justice, the late SCOTUS judge Antonin Scalia is burning up in HELL… an apt punishment for his participating in the (figurative)  gang rape / murder of Lady Liberty.

You see… Scalia deserves that fire and brimstone fate for he had been among the 5-4 archconservative majority of black robed bastards who, in the matter of Bush v. Gore, had corruptly handed over the Oval Office keys to George W. Bush on 12-12-2000… thereby disenfranchising the Florida voters and screwing over Al Gore. As a result, a firestorm of wretched events unfolded.

A quoted passage from my 03-03-2016 blog will rundown the particulars… list all the crap that went down during W’s admin. We the People wound up with an…

“…Orwellian NSA and MSM, banana republic elections, corporate citizenship, too big to fail coddled big biz failures, an upward redistribution of wealth, a “no child left behind” spiritless “teach to the test”, backward public school system, misogyny, theocracy, homophobia, xenophobia, environmental rape, foreign oil dependence, clucking / crowing chickenhawks, warmongering / war profiteering, needless, endless no-win wars, terrorist attacks, zero gun controls and warzone municipalities where even elementary school kids get shot to death.”

You see… Scalia ALSO deserves that fire and brimstone fate because he had, once again, been among the 5-4 archconservative majority of black robed bastards who, in the matter of Citizens United v. Federal Elections Commission, had granted citizenship to soulless corporate entities on 01-21-2010… thereby opening the floodgates of corrupt money to bribe the candidates we see (by and large) listed on the GOP side of our ballots… thereby killing off free elections in America.

To summarize all the above… these are but two of the decisions where Scalia had “burned down” the America, which our Founding Fathers had intended for posterity… DOWN TO THE GROUND! That leaves me feeling P.O.’d… BIG TIME… and I’d certainly hope you are feeling that way, too.

These two Supreme Court decisions have far deeper ramifications, too. They’ve served to embolden present-day Righties who are now adamantly refusing to permit President Barack Obama to fulfill his Constitutional duty… to select none other than the late Antonin Scalia’s successor.

Our sitting President, in choosing Merrick Garland, a 63 year old political moderate, has demonstrated a level of compromise which one would think would appease Senate Republicans. Of course there can be no appeasement when dealing with tyrants, not even the facts that Garland is far past midlife and won’t likely see eye to eye with true blue liberals.

Call archconservative obstinacy and obstructionism a political conflagration or call it a political firestorm… but… we must… by name… call out the key, flagrantly partisan, posturing culprits. That’d be Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell R-KY and Sen. Chuck Grassley R-IA.

Those swaggering senators are giddy with their absolute power / gridlock over the Obama White House… indeed, the chokehold they exert over our entire nation. I’ll let both McConnell and Grassley dig their own political graves with their own words.

Be sure to hold your nose while McConnell takes this… his verbal bowel movement:

“The American people should have a voice in the selection of their next Supreme Court Justice. Therefore, this vacancy should not be filled until we have a new president.”

In the stall adjacent to McConnell’s, here’s what Grassley left in the bowl:

“A lifetime appointment that could dramatically impact individual freedoms and change the direction of the court for at least a generation is too important to get bogged down in politics. The American people shouldn’t be denied a voice.”

Here’s how 2016’s Democratic presidential wannabe Hillary Clinton responded… and believe me… she flushed that entire disgusting load of Republican verbal dung down into the figurative sewer… right where it belongs.

“We chose a president. We chose him twice. And now Republicans in the Senate are acting like our votes didn’t count and that President Obama is not, still, our nation’s leader.”

“He (Grassley) says we should wait for a new president because, and I quote, ‘The American people shouldn’t be denied a voice.’ Well, as one of the more than 65 million Americans who voted to re-elect President Obama, I’d say my voice is being ignored right now.”

Folks, in parting let me just state the obvious. Had Mitt Romney defeated Obama in 2012, by now, McConnell, Grassley and all the rest of their GOP senatorial brethren would’ve confirmed whatever monster the Mittster had handpicked to be Scalia’s black robed, bastard successor… and to borrow, modify and build upon a few of Grassley’s own words… that lifetime appointment would’ve negatively impacted individual freedoms and changed the direction of the court for at least a generation.

One final thing before I let you go…

Republicans are playing a dangerous game by flipping off the 65 million Americans who re-elected President Obama … that’s 65 Million with a capital M! Citizens may not vent their outrage this year… maybe not even in the lifetime of all who are alive today… but someday, when folks finally realize that they cannot effect change in an orderly manner… that’s when they’ll act in disorderly ways… and if necessary… that’ll rise up to and, perhaps, even be inclusive of a Second American Revolution.

True, our visionary Founding Fathers had thought they had covered all the bases necessary to permit a smooth transition of leadership within our representative form of government… but… then again… how could they have ever foreseen the likes of a Mitch McConnell and a Chuck Grassley?

A Parable

Once upon a time, there lived a brash, young Robin, who lived to assert his territorial dominance. That innate disposition was put to the test one sunny, mild, spring morning. As he perched on a budding lilac branch, swaying in the gentle breeze, he happened to notice another robin, also sitting on a nearby, budding lilac branch.

Flapping his wings and speaking in (what else?) fluent robin, he angrily tweeted, “How dare you invade my territory!” But the other bird simply appeared to silently mock his threatening gestures; in no other way did he respond to his scolding. So fueled by his aggression, Robin swooped in to make “the kill” never once noticing how he was attacking his own reflection in a garage windowpane.

In an attempt to end the bitter hostility, a Human came rushing out of his house, arms waving in the air. The Robin flew away, albeit, his retreat only momentary. As soon as the Human went back inside, the fierce battle of the birds, mind you, one real, one phantom, resumed; and then raged on and on for many, many days to follow.

In dismay, the Human watched further. He took no joy in witnessing this senseless war. Being a proponent of non-violence, he did not even want to see this Robin harmed or dead. No, the knee-jerk military style reaction of whipping out a firearm and blowing this bird’s head off, was NOT an option. Nor was the do nothing approach, for that would either result in that combative bird knocking himself out, or doing even greater bodily injury, should that windowpane shatter.

The Human, shaking his head glumly side to side, now drew parallels to this own species. Was not territoriality what fueled acrimonious wars throughout the pathetic history of the human race? Was not that Robin now facing the same horrors of war, namely, pointless destruction, injury and death?

And even more disturbing a thought; had not that Robin gone to war based on totally flawed reasoning? After all, there was no real enemy robin, ergo, there was no real threat to this Robin’s territory, in the first place.

With the wisdom of an astute diplomat, the Human, once again, ventured forth into the great outdoors, this time with a hammer in one hand, a large burlap bag draped over his arm and six golden nails in his shirt pocket. As soon as he held the thick brown fabric in place to cover the garage window and then nailed it up securely, the phantom robin was banished from the neighborhood, peace returned and everyone lived happily ever after.

The moral to this story is twofold:

Brains not brawn make for a lasting Peace!

And…

Always look carefully before you rush to war… you might just be your own worst enemy!

 

I originally blogged “A Parable” on MySpace… posting date: Tuesday, September 12, 2006. On this day, I only applied a light coat of polish… so what you just read is 99 percent verbatim to what had hit the www… so long ago.

My motivation for writing this story had been twofold.

1. As a young boy I had actually watched a robin repeatedly attacking the window of my family’s garage.

2. Birdbrain George W. Bush’s similar behavior. He, too, had needlessly, pointlessly gone to war (with Iraq)… his basis for doing so based on the illusion / delusion of that nation possessing WMD / being a threat to America.

The MSM had a golden opportunity to nail in that “burlap fabric” to cover (or is that uncover?) W’s illusion / delusion… well… i.e., had the Fourth Estate been a team of real, investigative journalists properly doing their  homework.

So… how relevant to today’s world is a nearly ten-year-old blog?

Well… as far as priorities go… keeping the peace still bottoms out the list of today’s crop of crappy, scrappy GOP POTUS candidates… the Middle East continues to reel and spin out of control from the devastation from  W’s destabilizing Iraq war… Republican Senators and Representatives / Supreme Court Judges have learned nothing… I repeat… NOTHING… from their law-breaking / unruly ways and… via their roadblocks to progress… continue to preserve, protect and defend W’s failed policies… NOT the U.S. Constitution. AND… last but not least… the MSM is still not doing its job to educate Americans of this monumentally sorry state of affairs.

As proof… well… if Americans were being properly clued in… a birdbrain such as Donald Trump (a human/robin hybrid sporting Trump’s head and tweeting wildly… on Twitter?) would’ve been laughed off the stage… no… strike that… would’ve been booed off the stage long ago… and those dissenting voices would’ve been singing out… in full harmony… in our bipartisan chorus.

I did come up with a third, updated moral to “A Parable”:

Don’t be a birdbrain by voting for birdbrain Republicans.
