Fortune Cookie Blog (mythology analogy)

In Greek mythology the Hydra was a serpent-like, multi-headed beast. Were
a warrior to cut off 1 of its heads, it would, instantly, regenerate 2 in its place.
Heracles knew he would need his nephew Iolaus’ help to emerge triumphant.
In American mythology, a headstrong “commander” takes on a multi-headed,
regenerative beast a.k.a. the Terrorist. With too many heads to contend with,
sans a latter-day Iolaus, he could be in over his head; and emerge defeated.

99 Word Blog (#040) A Way to Win the War On Terror?

Fifteen 9/11s later, conventional combat has yet to conquer an unconquerable terrorist ideology, which knows no specific longitude and latitude on any map.

It’s delusional to believe past killings of terrorist masterminds (e.g. Osama bin Laden) can ever win the war on terror.

After all, replacing terrorist leaders is awfully easy. This reminds us of the mythological, nine-headed Hydra… when one head gets lopped off, two heads pop up in its place.

To conquer terrorism involves feeding our world’s nutritionally and intellectually starving people… provide good food and thoughts long before terrorist recruiters take their shot at poisoning minds.
