Preface: When we become ear and eyewitnesses to aired and streamed interviews, particularly of the political nature; especially in our troubled times; all too frequently the guests who appear speak in the passive voice; lean far to heavily on that “I was told…” telltale, damning phrase. Far worse, are these programs’ talking heads / moderators, who fail to lean back on their guests by countering with the vital question, “Who told you?”

Five Points of No Return?

PREFACE: It’s not just mindless flag waving when my words stress the significance of America’s role on the world stage. I merely mention it because the collapse of any Democracy can only destabilize, perhaps even destroy, said world.

The commonly held belief is that we humans tend to obsess over worst case scenarios that rarely, if ever, actually reach the absolute point of no return. Let’s keep a good thought that such wisdom is fully applicable to the following (worst of the worst) situations. In a sense, these could all, someday soon, easily, wind up as news headlines…

• Failure to promptly curb climate change to hasten humanity’s extinction
• Russia’s backfired Ukraine occupation triggers nuclear WW-III escalation
• Coronavirus whack-a-mole variants flat-out defy containment/eradication
• Americans’ incivility/hyperpartisanship spurs Civil War-II factionalization
• Fascism/Theocracy trumps Democracy/Liberty; spawns U.S.A. obliteration

Regarding that last on the list item… I’d like to point out that, in the weeks prior to Donald J. Trump’s January 6th, barked out, storm the U.S. Capitol command to his MAGA maniacs, it’d been the most unlikely person within Trump’s entire retrograde / renegade régime, one Vice President Mike Pence, who, for a fleeting moment, had managed to un-sell his soul. Indeed, when push had come to shove, for perhaps the very first time in that Republican miscreant’s entire deplorable political career, he had opted to do the honorable thing; i.e., certify then President-Elect Joe Biden’s Electoral College victory; i.e., gallantly come to Lady Liberty’s rescue.

Alas (Part 1): Seeing how the still seething with fury, vengeance seeking, big lie promoter, little snowflake Trump has yet to get his 14th Amendment stipulated comeuppance, and in all likelihood NEVER will, it’s still totally legal for him to seek reelection as early as 2024.

And, win or lose, that insurrectionist bastard could still do his damnedest to suffocate American freedom / burn down Democracy. He still has his entire entourage of low friends in high places (U.S. “legislators” / SCOTUS “justices”) and low friends in low places (his sycophantic Klansmen / Nazis / Proud Boys / media propagandists et al), who ALL have his six.

SIDEBAR: To flesh out the 14th Amendment, in essence, any elected official found guilty of fomenting insurrection against the United States of America shall forever be banned from ever, again, seeking high elective office.

Alas (Part 2): Seeing how Trump has already totally nixed the notion of Pence ever, again, being his running mate, his next VP choice will, little doubt, be someone certifiable / bat crap crazy; the sort of creature who’d slither out from under his/her rock and, no questions asked, hiss out “YESSIR!” and or rattle out, “ON IT!” to whatever that orange, fascistic freak commanded.

Let’s keep a good thought… that there’s still a goodly amount of good people, who can be counted on to know when they must say NO to malefactors (especially of the Trumpian variety).

Before it’s too late… humankind must conquer all five of those above bullet pointed issues; before such woes conquer us all.

Let’s pick up the pieces; when humdrum Pols take tame stand
And stick to pedestrian speeches; bond to strike up lame band
Once slick admen join them; Pols and Pals both play game bland
They trick to paint tainted world; sell us a spiffed, spoofed name brand

Their nice ads roll ‘round the clock; spread thru the airwaves and stream
“Roll up your sleeves!” they beseech, “Please join vaxxed people’s team!”
While vaccine science, trustworthy, rolls out the Game-Changer scheme
“Jabs” can’t knock out / cure social ills; not at such nauseous extreme

Bottled up in ads’ ointment, the flies team / teem; galore
Trump troglodytes engage erudites; THAT no-win, endless war
Normal notions stump Trump; also his dumbbell / oddball corps
Freedom? Justice? Just buzzwords; they all buzz off / abhor

In most known negative “isms”; Trumpers sprawl, wallow, bask
To learn from pandemics’ hard knocks? They’re not up to that “task”
They won’t even thwart Covid; by simply donning a mask
Are they beyond all redemption? Need anyone ask?

Deep down in the deep end, of the primordial pool
Trumpers get off on their guns; nuff to make them all drool,
Some strafe houses of worship, the workplace, the school
Others are BLAM-BLAM bad cops, who flip off BLM’s rule

Trumpian race and class warfare, proves chronic infection
Dots Pandemic? Dots Climatic? Simps can’t make the connection
Freakin’ fools who can’t fathom the Free Fair election
These days, go on a rampage; foment insurrection

Epilogue:

Granted, verses, above, tell the heart-rending tale
Of my homeland’s decline; beyond the pale / stale
Might “where there’s life there’s hope” wisdom, somehow, prevail?
Well, our Stars and Stripes still fly; Trump’s insurrection did fail!

A long, drawn out sigh…

Owing to YouTube / corporate greed (their opting to over-monetize / oversell ad time), my boycott of this website now stands at Day #24 and still counting.

Granted, their poorly vetted, anything goes / anything for a buck commercials don’t usually playback when posted in my blogs and they can also be skipped when viewed over at that platform, BUT, as a man of principle, I knew the time had come for YouTube and me to part company.

To dredge out the swamp further, their ad content can range anywhere from annoying to offensive to subversive AND the wildly disproportional Ad to Clip run time ratio sucks. They actually see nothing wrong with long-winded sponsors’ insufferable 70 minute sales pitches prior to and DURING 10 minute videos!

It’s that DURING aspect, where things can get downright, hardcore; e.g., a liberal commentator is just about to really nail some insurrectionist, Fascist effer’s ass to the wall when a Trumper’s (intentionally counter programmed?) ad will (just happen to?) interrupt.

Folks, spewing freakin’ Fascist rhetoric is NOT a free speech issue. My gawd, no one, REPEAT NO ONE should ever have the freedom to overthrow America or any other Democracy / Liberty based society.

Look, I’m not saying, “SCRAM!” to anyone. But, if it takes a sadistic stranglehold to get you off, there are plenty of Fascist states throughout our mucked up world, that would welcome you with open arms and choking hands.

That duly noted, let’s return, now, to YouTube’s mucked up world.

I do get it! There’s no such thing as a “free lunch”. But why should their ad run times ever exceed conventional TV’s 30 – 60 second time limits?

Turning now to the content particulars / turn offs:

• Medical Professionals: While I have little doubt that many of these kindly doctors are dedicated to curing all that ails us, I must point out that not everyone suffers from the same maladies / is always in need of their books, products, devices, etc. And, sorry to say, a medical degree does not necessarily bestow Interwebs savviness onto them. To e.g. that, why can’t their ads thumbnail their lectures and then encourage prospective patients to click onto a link to watch their full presentations?

• Shirtless Fitness Freak: Forgive me for singling this dude out, but it’s his condescending, cocky attitude and even his very facial features which remind me of a bygone, lazy ass, Boss From Hell. To put it mildly, I was glad the day he got transferred to another district. Even if you’re fortunate enough not to have your own similar horror story to tell, why would anyone want to watch, let alone ever do business with him?

• Mail Order Bride Brokers: Right from the get-go, this type of “businessman” demeans womankind; attempts to reduce all who harbor two X chromosomes to a commodity. While that, in itself, is already degrading enough, we might even be talking about pimps prospering off of human trafficking.

• Investment Advisors: These greedy bastards pitch their get rich quick schemes, never once mentioning that, truth be told (and they’re hardly ever truthful) they actually owe their own accumulation of obscene wealth to their government bestowed, Too Big To Fail Status; a ranking that’s not typically available to poor commoners, such as you and me. Beyond that, never forget that making a “killing” in the Stock Market can, and oft does involve the human suffering of those who actually dwell / slave away at the bottom of the corporate ladder.

• Family Tree “Surgeons”: Actually, in the abstract, submitting a DNA sample to explore ones’ family roots does sound a bit intriguing and fun. But, what about unscrupulous bastards who WILL also supply your genetic profile to inordinately interested third parties? That could mean that, someday, your boss will say to you, “Sorry, you won’t be getting that promotion you were hoping for. You have this nasty little gene that suggests you’ll be dropping dead soon. And oh, btw, we’ve forwarded this same poop to your Health Insurance provider which means the only way they’ll ever cover you is if you pay an arm and a leg premiums.

• Immortality Merchants: If you fork over your hard earned bread, they promise to tell you how to live to be 120 years old. Folks, take it from this old geezer, typical corporations and politicians flat out hate people who are sixty-something and older. And, if we start living to be twice that age, they WILL start to hate us twice as much!

• End of the World Merchants: The food they’re selling is supposed have a 25 year shelf life? REALLY? Hmm, how the hell would they ever know that, for sure, when they’ve only been in business for what? Six months? As for their solar gadgets which can charge up our devices? Wake up everybody. If the world, as we know it, will soon be in crash and burn mode, do you really expect the cell phone towers and Internet to be up and running Business As Usual?

YouTube’s Business As Usual over-saturation of offensive ads has not only rendered their videos unwatchable, but this practice has also committed some even deadlier sins. They are silencing the learned YouTubers, who educate humanity, pro bono. They’re also stifling art; the very spark of human creativity, which is amply demonstrated by the mega-talented YouTube videographers.

R.I.P. R.B.G.

It is with profound sorrow that all true believers in liberty, truth and justice for all, now pause to pay our respects to U.S. Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, who passed away, yesterday, at the age of 87.

We are forever indebted to her tireless, courageous fight against discrimination in all its ugly forms; the prejudice, bias, bigotry, intolerance, narrow-mindedness, unfairness, inequity, favoritism, one-sidedness, partisanship; sexism, chauvinism, misogyny, racism, anti-Semitism, heterosexism, ageism, classism and casteism, which habitually target society’s most vulnerable members; be they American citizens or asylum seekers.

We will never forget her ability to unerringly interpret and uphold our Heavenly Father’s and Founding Fathers’ laws; especially on behalf of commoners, such as you and I.

Regrettable but true, We the extraordinary ordinary People have become witness to the amoral mortals, who, with ever increasing frequency and ferocity, in their evil words and wretched deeds, have been thoughtlessly, shamelessly and relentlessly unraveling and undermining what should be inalienable, fundamental human rights.

I could, will, and must say more in the days ahead, for as presidential candidate, Joe Biden, when speaking of our current troubled times, has so oft reminded…

“We are living through a battle for the soul of this nation.”
