2-22-22 @ 2:22:22 ~ Quick Limerick

`

To say the least… this post’s entire point is its 2-22-22 2:22 p.m. (EST) WP Timestamp.

To say the most… obviously, I haven’t been getting around that much, for I’ve not had this much “fun” since…

1-11-11 @ 1:11:11 p.m.

Uh, as an afterthought… I’ve composed the following lame limerick, too…

`

I really need to find more stuff to do
‘Cause today’s limerick message to you
Is calendars’ year, month and day
And the three clock hands all say
That the 10 digits all boil down to “2”

Narcissist Kisses ~ Quick Limerick

`

A big-mouthed narcissist, headstrong; high-strung
Smooched his bedroom mirror, which was wall hung
When he tried French kiss fierce
Looking glass he did pierce
He yaks no more, ‘cause shards severed his tongue

Rumpus ~ 1 Quick Limerick

`

Trump always holes up his brain where he sits
A trait he shares with his brown-noser gits
With Jan 6th BM, on cue
He pooped out failed DC coup
He’ll try again; next time he gets the $#!+s

ADDENDUM 02/09/2022 06:30: Granted, gross subject matter (diarrhea / dysentery / the $#!+s) is rarely in good taste. But, then again, neither was it in good taste for one, Donald J. Trump, to attempt to burn down a nearly two and one half century old, liberty based democracy; based solely on his malignant narcissism fueled, insanely false narrative / flimsy excuse that he lost due to election fraud; his BIG LIE repeatedly debunked by some of the very adjudicators he, himself, had appointed.

Beyond that, my public limerick is a perfect example of art imitating life; i.e., considering how some of the January 6th insurrectionists had actually resorted to dropping their undies and publicly defecating INSIDE the U.S. Capitol. My gawd, even cats have the decency to bury their fecal matter.

Plumbing 101 ~ 1 Quick Limerick

`

What spurs the limp little “leader” named Vlad?
His by fluke, bygone, boyhood peek at dad?
With his wee “paint brush” in hand
He “yellows up” Ukraine’s sand
A crude prelude, to intrude like rude lad?

The Fragile Fragile CD

`

Up till two days ago, “scratching” had two musically oriented connotations; namely, the vinyl spinning, hip hop DJ artists’ technique AND (as any audiophile can attest), how those very vinyl LP and 45 “platters” oft serve up a multiple course meal’s worth of scratchy anomalies akin to the “Rice Krispies” snaps, crackles and pops (especially perceptible whenever the stylus starts tracking thru lower dB, acoustic movements.

Well, I now know of an entirely new, third meaning of “scratching” and that’s got me scratching my own noggin in wonderment. Check out how this etymological expansion played out…

Upon cuing up the progressive rock band, Yes’ 4th album (titled Fragile), I had no sooner engaged the CD player’s PB button than my ears were besieged by a scratchy din; worse than anything I’d have ever expected from its distant, vinyl ancestor.

Having totally bought into that eons old “CDs Are Forever” vow and utterly disbelieving what my own ears were telling me, I actually began troubleshooting everything; starting with a visual inspection of the disc for fingerprints. With none evident, next came the entire systems check; my sleuthing the cable “spaghetti” for any breaks / loose connections between amp, audio board and speakers. Again, no probs.

A few quick tests of some randomly selected CD’s all netted crystal clear playbacks; leaving me with the only possible conclusion. In essence, this Yes disc was a No go. Somehow, it had been corrupted; but by what?

Well, all it took was one Google search to instantly reveal an eerily similar account…

“Michele Youket, a Library of Congress preservation specialist, plays a CD of classical piano rhapsodies by Erno Dohnanyi. It crackles, and eventually the sound just cuts out. This is a variant of what’s called ‘CD rot’, Youket explains. In this case. it’s what’s called ‘bronzing’. The outer coating of the CD erodes, leaving a silver layer exposed. And when you leave silver exposed, it tarnishes.”

`

“So it’s actually changing the composition, and that’s why you hear the scratching there.”

Michele Youket

The odd thing, here, is, in spite of this Yes Fragile album’s 1971 release date, I’ve only owned the CD reissue for a short time and, consequently, there have not been all that many playbacks. Even odder is how there’s no noticeable “bronzing”. There’s got to be some other, at yet to be discovered, damaging agent in play.

While it’s true that I’m a staunch champion of truth in advertising, this is the one rare exception where I wish that a disc titled Fragile had not wound up so fragile.

Husky Husk ~ Quick Limerick

`

Gross, husky husk of a man; haughty; haunting
Oft gets entrapped by gold trappings he’s flaunting
Can’t shut his trap; is not gallant,
Won’t gallop off; shows no talent,
To suffer his gall and guile, is task daunting

A Multidimensional Multitude

`

A couple of days ago, I composed and posted the following limerick:

Way2Go Joe!

True Blue Joe, read Turncoat Trump riot act
Re Trump’s revolt; rhetoric, free of fact
And reamed-out each freaky goon
Smoocher of Trump’s cheeky moon
Hellbent to freedom subvert and subtract

`

While reviewing my work this a.m., the multitude of multidimensional intricacies suddenly dawned on me. To better quantify them, I typed them them out and, by task’s end, realized that my creative process might be of interest to others; hence this brief appraisal…

  • Line 1: “T” alliteration showcases the primary, political combatants; the “riot act” idiom further exposes Trump as the January 6th U.S. Capitol Riot inciter; “read” being a homophone of “red”, that hue cues / conjures up the Red State / Blue State schism, visions of Trump’s MAGA Movement motif (plus schlocky merchandise he traffics in) AND the British Red Coats who fought America’s Patriots during our Revolutionary War; how Trumpian Turncoats / traitors are latter day Red Coats / enemies of America.
  • Line 2: “R” alliteration; use of word “revolt”; its dual connotation of repugnance and insurrection. ‘
  • Lines 3 and 4: double rhyming “freaky goon” with “cheeky moon”; nether region’s euphemisms “reamed-out”, cheeky and moon reference Trump’s butt kisser sycophants.
  • Line 5: Hellbent sums up Donald’s intent; the downward direction he drove America; the concluding subvert / subtract wordplay; the prefix “sub” related to Trump subjecting average Americans to a lesser, substandard, inferior quality of life.
  • Lines 1 thru 5: each lead-off words’ Cap forms an acrostic / the word “TRASH”; that being the monosyllabic, euphemistic, G-Rated summation of what the headed for the exit signs, 01/20/2021 Trump had dumped onto President Joe Biden’s Oval Office desk.
