A Well-Versed Dumb Real Donald?

From 1973 – 1982, long before the Real Donald became a household word, we found the clever and clairvoyant Match Game writers submitting Dumb Donald scenarios for emcee Gene Rayburn to recite to the panelists, contestants and all who were playing along in the home and studio audiences.

Normally, at this juncture, I’d be presiding over a Dumb Donald Clip, but, since my demand has nearly exhausted YouTube’s supply, I’ll now need to breathe new life into my shtick. ISO inspiration, namely, head-to-head matches with our dearly departed, Match Game souls, I’ve been simulating, semi-serious seances. And methinks this graying old coot has not been departing the spirit world alone! Indeed, the new, game show host persona, from within me, now emerges to preside over this reincarnated, revamped game show format. Voilà and Ta-Da!

Welcome contestants, one and all, to Match Game 20-20. I’m M.C. Grayburn. Our new rules are straightforward. Each of you will have one chance to match as many of our six, predetermined responses as possible. You’ll be playing for a priceless grand prize; the affirmation that you’re still a clearheaded, critical thinking non-consumer of the Kool-Aid™!

If your non-matching, responses prove more clever than Match Game’s, you’ll still be a winner! To claim your prize, post your witty and/or wise alternatives in the comment section, below.

Soooooo, let’s play Match Game 20-20.

Check out this fill-in-the-blank limerick:

Once the “think music” starts, you’ll have 1 Minute to think up your 6 responses.
And, btw, no peeking beneath the turquoise hued, rectangular secrecy partition!

Then Profanity It Shall Be

For the first four years of blogging here, @WordPress, I’ve managed to pretty much steer clear of profane language or, at the very least, to sub in clever, reasonable facsimiles thereof… e.g. asshat / a-hole… WTF / effing / F’d up / mucked up… $#!+ / give a $#!+…. and spoonerisms such as “shive a git” and “fit hits the shan”, etc.

Keeping it reasonably clean has been more about maintaining a family friendly site than a reflection of who I really am. In other words, when sufficiently outraged, my offline barrage of choice words (both uttered and written) has been known to rival, if not exceed, the salty language unleashed by the proverbial sailor/salt and truck driver.

The rationale for my long overdue revision of my self-imposed, no profanity policy, is inexorably linked to humankind’s exponentially worsening (by the hour and minute), multiple societal crises. And sans any doubt, our downfall is deeply rooted in rotten Donald J. Trump’s rise to power. Worse yet, we oft witness other leaders of his ilk, worldwide, plagiarizing his wretched words and aping his deplorable deeds whenever, they too, devolve before our very eyes and ears.

Fleshing that out, our society is currently being plagued by a trifecta of catastrophes… namely… [1] the spread of COVID-19, [2] the eons old, cancerous growth of systemic racism and [3] metastasizing Fascism.

And now that these reprehensible leaders have gleefully (sadistically?) sent our human family careening / fast tracking towards endangered species territory, if not extinction, I ask…

What the fuck is so family friendly about any of that evil shit, huh? Is that not the far worse obscenity?

It goes without saying that swearing does lose much of its impact when used excessively / gratuitously. And while ugly times and vulgar leaders do warrant foul language, my use of profanity will be sparing. In other words, IF the topic is profanity appropriate, THEN profanity it shall be.

Noah Speaks the Truth

The Daily Show’s Trevor Noah presents his even-handed, nuanced, meticulous, unscripted deconstruction of yet another incident of indefensible, undue police brutality / use of deadly force. In the process, he also documents the waning moments of Rayshard Brooks’ too damned short time on Earth.

About all I can add…

• Initially, this involved a matter of suspected public intoxication… a misdemeanor offense. Granted, Brooks did scuffle with the cops, however, he also tried to flee. Most reasonable folks would readily conclude that, at that point, he posed no threat and the cop had no good reason to shoot him dead.

• Considering how multiple decades’ worth of news cycles have been dominated by stories of police brutality / unwarranted use of deadly force… most recently of how a cop had murdered George Floyd… Brooks likely surmised he was doomed and had good reason to run.

• Although Brooks’ judgment had likely been alcohol impaired, he was still sufficiently sober to react to a lifetime of indoctrinated fear.

• The very brand of deeply ingrained fear that has been handed down from generation to generation… from father to son… both within pre-American and American society… for the past 401 years.

• The sobering truth is that there’s no shortage of white lawless lawmen, who will summarily mete out the death penalty for the slightest of infractions and, all too often, even when no law has been broken, at all.

• So there’s what we do know about the death of Rayshard Brooks. However, what most of us don’t know is how that cop had gunned him down on the day before his young daughter’s birthday party [Read More Here].

• Most reasonable folks would readily conclude that the good people who’ve been pouring out into the streets have good reason to protest.

Brutal Honesty re Police Brutality

Let’s deconstruct the phrases “police force” and “law enforcer”. Could the overemphasis of “force”, at least to some small degree, be subliminally suggesting to law enforcers that police brutality is “just” part of their job description? Could classifying law enforcers by military rank (e.g. sergeant, lieutenant, captain, etc.) be aiding and abetting their militancy, too?

We already know that federal militarization of America’s state and local police forces is tantamount to overkill. Could that practice, simultaneously, be suggesting to law enforcers that becoming brutal killing machines is, somehow, expected of them? Even playing into their mucked up rationale that, since they’ve already got the army armaments and vehicles, anyway, why not do what?

Shoot first, ask questions later? Declare war? Mutate America’s streetscapes into war zones? Kneel on their prisoners throats to suffocate them? Sadistically jump up and down on their victims’ dead bodies until they smash their atoms into the asphalt?

Sorry for such graphic descriptions. However, except for that bit about the atoms, that damn near well sums up what’s actually happening out there.

Of course, as most of us already know, police brutality’s primary cause is deeply rooted in North America’s 401-year-old history, namely, the enslavement of people of color, which predates the birth of America by more than a century and a half. Those bygone, backward slave owners made damned sure that oppressive, reprehensible racism would be omnipresent, and, to this very day, too damned many law enforcers still buy into maintaining that mindset.

• That’s why unarmed, tackled to the ground, handcuffed and not resisting arrest people of color (such as George Floyd), suspected of committing minor, non-violent crimes, are winding up awaiting their wings instead of awaiting their trials. Which begs the question:  What ever happened to their 6th Amendment protections, which (to paraphrase) guarantee a defendant’s rights to a speedy public trial by an impartial jury (instead of the trial by judge, jury and executioner cops).

• That’s why non-violent people (of all races), who are protesting the incidents of deadly police brutality are, ironically, falling victim to police brutality, too. Which begs the question: What ever happened to their 1st Amendment protections, which (to paraphrase) establish their freedom of speech and right to peaceably assemble to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

As of late, we’ve been finding no shortage of “experts”, who’ve been touting the notion of sensitivity training for cops… mind you… murderous cops who, deep down, would rather be sporting their KKK white than their police department blue. If their commanding officers actually believe a crash course in common decency is the panacea that’ll end police brutality, they are dead wrong.

If police officers do not harbor egalitarianism and humanitarianism within their heads, hearts and souls, to begin with… if they have not patterned their entire lives to those ideals, then, they do not possess the right stuff and do not belong anywhere near a police department. If they, instead, find authoritarianism and barbarism preferable, that would prove them beyond redemption and better suited for a police department’s jail cell.

Those who hire cops must learn how to better vet cop wannabes… make damned sure that only humankind’s finest get badges pinned to their new uniforms. Additionally, a from the attic to the basement, police department house cleaning is in order. If law enforcers’ modus operandi is police brutality, their immediate outing and ousting is already long overdue.
