Watchfully Waiting

PREFACE: While what follows is far from a comprehensive appraisal, I am going on the premise that even an imperfect assessment, today, is still infinitely preferable to awaiting tomorrow’s more polished work. That said, here goes…

In the highly unlikely possibility that one or two of you might be wondering about my recent disappearance from this platform, it’s all been with good reason.

You see, I’ve been laying low while contemplating the feasibility of my WP future. After all, the wisdom of continuing to blog from the liberal / progressive point of view is highly questionable when, ideologically speaking, the road “ahead” foreshadows an increasingly insufferable, apparently irreparable, chronically chaotic. hardcore right wing dystopia.

While I still harbor the belief that the vast majority of humanity is honorable, within our (allegedly) representative government nations, does majority rule even rule anymore?

`

In far too many instances, inveterate propaganda ministers have been whipping good people into exhaustion, apathy, silence and submission; into no questions asked / permitted acceptance of wretched, fetid (alleged) leadership.

And, re such stench, once folks have been conditioned into nose blindness, that makes the long overdue, desperately needed, ballot box deodorization process difficult, if not IMPOSSIBLE (especially when / where the odious powers-that-be have also resorted to suppression of fair, free elections).

How IMPOSSIBLE?

Well, with ever increasing frequency, (especially Stateside,) unscrupulous, arrogant, snot-nosed, incumbents and wannabes (whom the voters have justifiably denied the reins of power), have been throwing temper (Trumper) tantrums; so severe that they’ll make unfounded claims of widespread voter fraud and NEVER accept their undeniable ballot box defeats.

At that juncture, we can expect matters to deteriorate rapidly and rabidly. I’m sure I needn’t remind anyone of how turncoat Donald J. Trump and his private army of domestic terrorists attempted their brazen, grotesque, deadly, destructive, January 6th coup d’état at the U.S. Capitol.

Since such subversives have been left unchecked by Democrats, history is likely to repeat itself. As such, once the November 2022 ballots get tallied, any victors (who do not identify as MAGA) can expect to be wrongfully challenged and, in the end / THE END, even wind up flat-out denied their legitimately earned political power. In other words…

Avarice, ignorance and decadence driven MAGA minority rule will rule; where the hard work of saving our human family / our troubled world will NEVER get done.

While matters do appear glum, I’ll remind all American ballot casters (of good character) to keep the good thought that appearances can be deceiving. And more to the point…

Voter suppression can be overcome by monumental voter turnout. En masse, our cast ballots can preserve, protect and defend our Founding Fathers’ vision for us; our posterity.

And so, here I am; anxiously, watchfully waiting the outcome of the November 8th midterm elections; knowing fully well that we’re now confronted by this do or die moment in human history.

IF maniacal and moronic MAGA Republicans wind up taking out both the U.S. House and Senate, we might soon be waving good-bye to both President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris; if not impeached and ousted next year, they’ll both become lame ducks for the next two years.

In essence (and at the risk of repeating myself)…

Biden’s tanked out approval rating is linked to his impossible quest for bipartisanship with Trumper Republicans. In the process, he’s been sacrificing every iota of his dignity / every vestige of human decency, and, worse yet, screwing over the very voters who empowered him.

Pollsters are already predicting that, come November, Democrats will lose control of both the U.S. House and Senate and, come 2024, will also lose the White House. Worse yet, Biden’s likely successor will be the still unpunished perpetrator of the January 6th Insurrection, the Fascist / narcissist Donald J. Trump who, once installed will NEVER leave office. Alas, Dictatorship will trump Democracy.

Biden could still win back the voters by signing Executive Orders that’d both keep his campaign promises and, even better, not require any Congressional approval.

But, will he?

We May Not Prevail Tomorrow

`

So far, 738 un-Americans have been arrested re the January 6, 2021 attack on the U.S. Capitol. Correction, make that 749, seeing how Oath Keeper Stewart Rhodes and ten other bastards joined their rank ranks mere hours ago.

The accused have been, or soon will be, on trial to establish (or not?) their culpability in subverting Democracy; i.e., interfering with the Congressional certification of (then President Elect) Joe Biden’s Electoral College victory; and more to the point, their attempting to, instead, unconstitutionally install their narcissistic, fascistic, sore loser “hero”, one Donald J. Trump, for another four years; more likely, till death do us part (America’s death not his).

Needless to say, the accused have lawyered up, and while I do believe that everyone suspected of criminal activity should be provided due process, these shameful individuals now enjoying such protection is the epitome of shameless hypocrisy.

• On one hand… they could not wait to (figuratively speaking) brazenly set ablaze the U.S. Constitution’s parchment.
• On the other… they have now (again figuratively speaking) conveniently hauled out the fire extinguisher to save that hallowed document just to “save their own bacon.”

One would think that these insurrectionists would, at the very least, demand punishment; if for no other reason, to prove they’re the hate America badasses, who they claim to be.

I’d like to believe that nobody could ever, seriously, want to lay waste to America; that they’re capable of feeling remorse; might even be clumsily saying “I’m sorry”.

However, let’s keep it all real.

Such sorrow is more about their having been arrested; and more to the point, being abandoned by Trump, who talked the talk, yet didn’t join them (as he had promised), to walk the walk to the U.S. Capitol; who, during the subsequent final two weeks of his term, further screwed them over by not pardoning even one of them.

Not that I, or any other true American, would’ve ever wanted him to do so… just sayin’…

For the record, EVERYONE found guilty of that attempted January 6th coup d’état must be punished to the full extent of the law, and that EVERYONE must be inclusive of Donald J. Trump.

Show any of them mere slap-on-the-wrist leniency, today, and that will not only embolden them but also rabble rouse insurrectionist wannabes out there to try to take out America, again; maybe as early as tomorrow.

“The Only Game In Town” ~ 1 Year Ago

One year ago, on January 6th, the certifiable sore loser of America’s 2020 Presidential Elections, Donald J. Trump, in a last ditch effort to rebelliously overstay his welcome; to defiantly cling to the power the voters had ordered him to relinquish, made a public appearance.

After swaggering onto the world stage, he delivered his rabble rousing, subversive “Stop the Steal” speech (ironically, to steal the presidency from the duly elected Joe Biden).

Donald would use and abuse his bully pulpit to:

• indulge his enfeebling, malignant narcissism; stroke his huge ego
• regurgitate his Big Lie about widespread, voter fraud (unfounded)
• thwart Congressional certification of Biden’s Electoral College win

Trump’s rally attendees were far more than mere faces in the crowd. And, oh, did they ever gobble up / pig out on his every word, syllable, dotted “i” and crossed “t”. Worse yet, it hadn’t taken much brain power to read between his lines.

In essence, Trump, the (in title only) President of The United States of America was ordering his assembled private army of insurrectionist wannabes to ATTACK the United States of America. And, they’d eagerly obey his “fight like hell” command; willfully transform his seditious-take-no-prisoners words into their seditious-take-no-prisoners deeds.

Seething with gargantuan Trumpian rage, they stormed the U.S. Capitol (some of them going the public defecation route); their mission:

To burn down a nearly two-and-one-half-century
old Democracy in 1 single Wednesday afternoon.

3 to 7 “Shopping Days” Left Till What?

20% of Stateside Republicans still believe that Donald J. Trump will be reinstated / reinstalled in the Oval Office by year’s end; in spite of the fact that there’s nary a syllable, within the entire U.S. Constitution, to make such a POTUS switcheroo a doable deed / done deal.

That this salient, legal point has yet to dissuade them could mean they’ve…

a. Failed to read/comprehend the Constitution
b. Flipped off every law that gets in their way
c. Fallen head-over-heels in lust with Donny
d. All of the above

Regardless of how we “a-b-c-d” assess these asses, it means, as of my blog posting time, they’ve got a scant 7 days prior to their year end deadline; well, actually only 3 if they intend ot party hearty on Christmas Eve / Day and New Year’s Eve / Day.

Yep, 3 to 7 days to… to… to… to do what?

Well, it’s that “what” aspect that’s the truly scary part.

With No Constitutional Mechanism to crowbar Trump’s considerable ass back into the Oval Office chair, that’d mean these MAGA Maniacs would be left to their own devious devices. And, this past January 6th amply demonstrated just how far they’d go to muscle in minority rules.

Were they to prevail by year’s end, they’d be mucking up freedom; the very freedom that America’s valiant, selfless troops had fought its Revolutionary and Civil Wars, the two World Wars to preserve, protect and defend.

Putting a philosophical / psychological spin on this…

I do try to remind myself that, under NORMAL circumstances, most of what we humans worry about never actually happens.

Yet, what does a word, such as NORMAL, even mean anymore; in view of [1] the looming, perhaps irreversible climate change disaster, [2] the crawling with multiple viral variants, seemingly endless, global pandemic, [3] more to the point, the totally ABNORMAL, January 6, 2021 first Insurrectionist attack on the U.S. Capitol, AND [4] its primary perpetrator, Traitor Trump, still unpunished / still at large / still determined to retake / take out the White House (come January 20, 2025; if not sooner?).

Well, at least with only 3 to 7 days left for these Anti-Americans to “shop around” for another attempted coup, it won’t take long for We the Champions of Freedom, to discover if these Trumpian Enemies of America conquer or cower.

Too Damned Much Too Damned Soon

On this day, I’ll be featuring an excerpt from my very first WordPress blog [6:56 am on March 3, 2016]; an account of a violent, deadly attack against Democracy; its severity matched only by al-Qaeda’s Tuesday, September 11, 2001 attacks in NYC, PA and DC and insurrectionists’ Wednesday, January 6, 2021 storming of the U.S. Capitol.

Indeed, you and I will be reliving vivid recollections, as seen thru a 9-year-young boy’s eyes (my own); reportage of a national tragedy which had forced me to face down too damned much age inappropriate content; to grow up too damned soon…

I voted for John F. Kennedy when I was ONLY six-years-old!

Well… uh… sorta. Here’s what had actually happened…

After Mom had closed the voting booth curtains, hoisted me up to adult eye level and demonstrated how everything worked, she actually let me shift JFK’s lever down! My having done something so grown-up on Election Day 1960 had been a feel good, defining moment in my young life.

As I grew physically, so did my understanding of (and respect for) the immense leverage, which each of those tiny levers can exert in shaping our nation and world. Tragically, not everyone opts in to such a civilized, orderly process. Such was the case on…

November 22, 1963 ~ It had been a gray, overcast, rainy Friday. There had been no school for Sis and me (due to parent / teacher conferences). I was just finishing lunch when my sibling came rushing into the dining room. Still clutching her pocket-sized transistor radio, she blurted out…

“Somebody Shot President Kennedy!”

Mom, Sis and I quickly adjourned to the living room. Even before our Zenith TV’s B&W picture tube had fully warmed up, we could already hear one of CBS anchorman Walter Cronkite’s earliest bulletins.

As time came grinding down to a dead halt, we felt ourselves rapidly descending into the depths of our nation’s communal shock. There was little else we could do… save for waiting and hoping that our worst fears would not be confirmed. But…

The bad news just kept on spilling forth from our nation’s TV screens while Kennedy’s dream for the betterment of our national / global society, was hemorrhaging forth from his head wounds… dying along with this great man. Eventually, Cronkite had to choke back his own overwhelming sorrow as he reported…

“From Dallas, Texas… the flash apparently official… President Kennedy died at 1 p.m., Central Standard Time… 2 o’clock Eastern Standard Time… some thirty-eight minutes ago.”

And that’s the way it was… the feel rotten, defining moment in my young life. The President I had “voted” for three short Novembers earlier had been blown away.

Bullets… not ballots… had removed John Fitzgerald Kennedy from office and shot to hell my childhood innocence.

Must See MeTV Tonight!

This being Veterans Day in America, I’d like to express my undying gratitude to the selfless, courageous and heroic men and women, who we rely on to preserve, protect and defend our cherished freedoms.

As long as we’re speaking of heroes… in a similar, somewhat less serious vein…

Let’s cross-fade to a discussion re the classic sitcom, Hogan’s Heroes, which originally aired over the CBS TV network from September 17, 1965 until April 4, 1971.

However, it’s the storyline of Season 2 Episode 01, in particular, which I consider to be the most imaginative of this series’ entire, 6 season 168 episode run. And best of all, it’s all slated to playback in prime time, this very night over the MeTV network.

BTW, the reason for my recently heightened affinity for this program is quite understandable. These characters consistently make life hell for every Nazi who’d even dare to cross their path.

Nazis just like Donald J. Trump and the 74,223,369 Nazis who voted for him last November.

Beyond that…

Had the characters Colonel Robert E. Hogan, Corporal Louis LeBeau, Corporal Peter Newkirk , Staff Sergeant James Kinchloe, Sergeant Richard Baker and Technical Sergeant Andrew Carter been stationed in Washington D.C. on January 6, 2021, not one of Donald J. Trump’s seditious bastards would’ve gotten within one kilometer / mile of the U.S. Capitol. Hell, Nazi Trump’s Anti-American, “Stop the Steal” rally would’ve never gone down at all.

The Charter Cherry Picker

Just how mucked up is Donald J. Trump’s head? One needn’t look any further than his love / hate relationship with Democracy; how he loathes the U.S. Constitution’s guidelines, which unequivocally establish and maintain our fair, free elections (inclusive of the certification of each Electoral College victor), YET, he can barely muster provisional love (at first sight) for the passages which unequivocally establish and maintain free speech and due process.

And even then, such love will be highly contingent upon whether or not HIS vast legions of unscrupulous litigators can somehow, some way, manage to subvert and fabricate such verbiage into a technicality; which will then metastasize into some sorta defense of HIS utterly indefensible, treasonous acts.

Lest anyone ever forget, Trump had amassed HIS psychotic and sycophantic troops; ordered HIS private army of insurrectionists to attack the U.S. Capitol this past January 6th; to in one afternoon cancel out America’s nearly two and one half century existence.

Wonder what the always obsessing over “cancel culture” hardcore righties would have to say about that, huh?

Returning to Trump;’s big-mouthed mouthpieces, should they fall, their client’s love affair will be akin to a one night stand; this all reminiscent of that twice divorced, thrice married cad’s riddled with infidelity, diseased, in the flesh “love life”.

The ever-present danger: Even one slap on the wrist reprimand of Donald J. Trump will not bode well. With nary a whispered commend, HIS troops will go on another rampage and, in all likelihood, their next battlefield won’t be limited, exclusively, to DC.

Nope, no one can expect such anti-Americans to comply with HIS “stand back and stand by” orders forever.

Lackadaisical House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, have foolishly underestimated their constituents’ indignation.

They’ve also squandered the golden opportunities to not only bring to justice, punish and imprison the anti-American, insurrectionist, Fascist Donald J. Trump but have also permitted his sycophantic, enabling propagandists / history revisionists to successfully morph HIS deadly and destructive January 6th Capitol rioters and riots into harmless tourists on a sightseeing tour.

Nan’s and Chuck’s ongoing, unfathomable lethargy and unforgivable cowardice have already set the stage for Fascist Trumper Republicans to take back… strike that… take out the U.S. Senate and U.S. House of Representatives (come 2022) and White House (come 2024).

At present, the in critical condition United States of America is writhing in agony on its deathbed.
