The 9/11 Prez’s Stench Rendered Naïve Voters Nose Blind

Let’s rehash George W. Bush… the 9/11 “prez”. For starters, his very rise to power hinged upon his mouthpieces and handlers successfully corrupting 5 of the 9 SCOTUS judges… coercing them into denying his opponent, Al Gore, what should’ve been the mandatory, statewide recount of the disputed Florida ballots.

In the end, W wound up stealing the 2000 elections… cheating his way into the Oval Office. The glaring irony… he had never actually wanted the presidency. He had amply demonstrated his disinterest by turning a blind eye to his 08/06/2001 Presidential Daily Briefing’s figurative, flashing red lights… a deaf ear to the accompanying, figurative, high decibel klaxons. What part of that PDB’s headline “Bin Laden Determined To Strike in US” did he not comprehend?

That spot-on, invaluable intel had forewarned W of the imminent hijackings five full weeks before they went down. Why the hell… at the very least… had he not beefed up airport security?

OK… in all fairness… it’s totally possible such an effort would’ve proven insufficient to prevent 9/11. Nonetheless, he should’ve tried. But, instead, W went on vacation… and after a mere seven months into his first term.

And so, his slacking off allowed the jets to crash into the twin towers, five sided architecture and rural real estate… caused nearly 3,000 needless deaths. And so, he was caught with his commander in chief trousers down… staring into the cameras… caught in their unforgiving glare like the proverbial, dazed deer caught in the headlights.

At that point, his in a tizzy spin doctors and image consultants went into damage control mode to beef / stiffen up his flaccid, unpresidential image. Yep, they were already thinking way ahead towards his ’04 reelection campaign. To that end, they’d begun to mutate their little boy W into “The Boy Wonder”… the “blood and guts”, “rampaging”, “superhero” persona he never had and never would. He’d order US troops to pointlessly rampage into Afghanistan and Iraq… to bomb the crap out of them… to commit crimes against humanity such as the waterboarding / torturing of their captured POWs… to permit Osama bin Laden to flee.

And, as if that weren’t bad enough, already, W collaborated with US Congressmen to bulldoze and bury the US Constitution… to gut that once hallowed, Founding Father penned document of any promises that’d “secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity”

W’s legacy… He became an un-convicted war criminal and bank robber. He needlessly rolled out the tanks and tanked out the economy. He militarily splattered the red blood and monetarily splattered the red ink.

To keep it real… statistically, W blew away one million humans and blew one trillion bucks fighting his no-win, never-win war on terror.

All that had actually accomplished was to set the Republican, presidential expectations bar low. In other words… if the majority of American voters could put up with the stench of George W. Bush, they could easily go nose blind to the far worse stench of Donald J. Trump.

The End!

BlogCast Special: A 9/11 Soundtrack

This time around, our musical get-together doesn’t require much of a set up at all. In fact, my above headline says it all.

Simply scroll down, click away and, while listening, be sure to remember all the good people we lost or who got wounded on this day, sixteen years ago… all their surviving families and dear friends… all the victims who live on, forever physically scarred, challenged and disabled.

Remember, too, all who’ve met similar fates while fighting on the side of good during the subsequent wars on terror… as well as all the innocent bystanders residing in the vicinity of those battlefields.

And never forget that the ongoing, more recent terrorist attacks, still spread like raging cancers all over our world and are no less damaging and deadly.

Halcyon Days Lost… Forever?

Month / Day: Nine / Eleven… Year: Twenty – Naught – One,

We all lost, sense of safety, our Days Halcyon.

Despite fifteen laps, which we’ve jogged ‘round our Sun,

Still nowhere to hide. Still nowhere to run.

Be it al Qaeda or ISIS, or lone wolves, homespun,

Be it suicide bomber or crazed sniper’s gun.

Each insurgent’s first goal is to shock, awe and stun,

Their surprise element can’t be thwarted, undone.

The stick figure dispassionate, bare boned skeleton,

Once gutted of values, compassion they’ll shun.

The body count mounts, victims’ souls jettison,

Perhaps peace exists ONLY in O-blivion?

War on terror is futile, no truce can be won,

Each tactician in dispute is a simpleton.

Just whom do troops conquer? Zip, zero none!

Can we rise from the FALL of ol’ Twenty – Naught – One?

99 Word Blog (#040) A Way to Win the War On Terror?

Fifteen 9/11s later, conventional combat has yet to conquer an unconquerable terrorist ideology, which knows no specific longitude and latitude on any map.

It’s delusional to believe past killings of terrorist masterminds (e.g. Osama bin Laden) can ever win the war on terror.

After all, replacing terrorist leaders is awfully easy. This reminds us of the mythological, nine-headed Hydra… when one head gets lopped off, two heads pop up in its place.

To conquer terrorism involves feeding our world’s nutritionally and intellectually starving people… provide good food and thoughts long before terrorist recruiters take their shot at poisoning minds.

X P.M. John Howard’s Dystopia

Yesterday, I blogged re the 20th anniversary of Australia’s Port Arthur Massacre and how, in the 1996 aftermath, (then) Prime Minister John Howard had ushered in strong gun control laws… those efforts creating a dramatic reduction in mass shooting incidents.

Originally I had (naïvely) thought, “Wow… what a great man!” I mean what could be more dramatic than ZERO such incidents over the past two decades?

Well… long sigh… as it turns out… re Howard… there IS a lot of drama… and none of it good. More about that in a moment.

The first order of biz, this day, is my shout out to a fellow blogger who hails from Australia. His comment on yesterday’s posting alerted me to the fact that gun control is the ONLY good thing Howard ever accomplished during his tenure as P.M.

As for the second order of biz, I decided to dig deeper into Howard’s ideology. And, folks, unless you’re in the habit of inviting Big Brother over for a political cup of tea, I strongly recommend that you have an airsick bag within reach.

While you’re readying that receptacle… check out this video…

Political analyst Tony Kevin now adds his voice:

“I have a bleaker view of the Howard years. Only time will tell if my case is overstated. I see Howard as a disruptive and dangerous national leader. His rule is steadily degrading the values of our society and corrupting its political institutions. The longer he stays in power, the more the checks and balances of our society will crumble. We will continue our slow slide towards an Australian model of fascism.”

“Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely. That is why checks and balances are crucial to the health of democratic systems. They are the grit in the gears of government machinery, preventing excessive concentration of power.”

The 10 Specific Lowlights to John Howard’s Dystopia…

1. Howard exploited the war on terror just like George W. Bush had… fear mongered his people into xenophobic paranoia. Since he kept these citizens in the dark and fed them a ton of BS, one Deputy Prime Minister referred to this as “Howard’s Mushroom Club”.

2. He deployed Australian troops to fight in W’s (provoked on flat out lies) Iraq War. Just like W, he posed in photo ops with soldiers for political gain.

3. Howard jailed innocent women and children refuges behind the barbed wire of Hell-hole concentration camps and deported Australians. His “One Australia” had been mere window-dressing for his vile white-supremacist movement. He enforced social and cultural conformism… denied Aboriginal people their universal land rights. Indeed… in his narrow vision… only those who did not clash with the bleak, homogenized Howard motif need “apply”.

4. He called all the shots… decided what issues would / would not be brought up for national debate. Dissenting Parliamentarians risked ending their carriers. He also stacked the court system with likeminded, mindless, spineless, political hack judges.

5. Howard dispatched thought police to quash the freethinking nature of universities and think tanks… marginalizing any and all voices of differing POVs.

6. He dominated the actual police forces and bestowed totalitarian powers upon them… with zero oversight they could not / could never be reined in by anyone. All department whistle blowers were vulnerable to punishment… naysayers escorted to the exit signs. Career advancement was based solely on being a good little toady.

7. Howard allowed only token dissenters to maintain the illusion of a fair and balanced MSM. With everyone else on board with tapping into Orwellian concepts, mendacity ruled.

8. He went on expensive overseas junkets while excluding the press corps from his aircraft.

9. Howard busted up labor unions and dismantled the eight-hour day, pensions and other benefits.

10. He implemented teach to the test and “values” lessons within public schools (an idiotic lesson he had also learned from mentor/moron W).

You can read more in depth about those above 10 items…

Check out the blogs by political analysts John Pilger and Peter Charlton ~ Tony Kevin.

Now, to once more quote Kevin…

“Here is the real story of the Howard years. We no longer live in a healthy, self-correcting democratic system, but in an expanding, albeit still “soft-authoritarian”, system of corporate national power. While leading elites remain mostly quietly complicit, dissenters look on in horror as our national pride is devalued and our freedoms are dismantled.”

About all I can add to those sentiments…

That Howard put an end to mass shooting incidents is to be commended. True that has saved lives… but it can also be argued… and I might add convincingly so… that those who remained alive were not / are not really living. To quote Randy California’s song lyric…

“Just where will you be when your freedom is dead?”

To tap into that lyrical Spirit… hear out the rest of California’s sentiments…

Could Matthew 5:39 End The Madness?

¶1 Defining “mad”… it’s feeling PO’d… e.g., folks indigenous to the Middle East rightfully feeling mad as hell because the U.S. had trespassed on their home turf… more specifically… America had stationed troops in Saudi Arabia. In a nutshell, Osama bin Laden would’ve calmed down had he gotten the U.S. to peacefully stand down (as in America getting the the hell out). But we didn’t… and so “mad” took on a whole new connotation.

¶2 Redefining “mad”… it’s going “just plain nuts”… e.g., a man woke up one sunshiny, Tuesday morning, chowed down his Cheerios and then, as he headed out the front door, he grabbed his car keys, kissed the missus and said, “Oh honey… I won’t be home for dinner… flight 11 out of Logan will be making an unscheduled stop at the WTC.” She reacted by saying, “Oh… OK dear… have a safe drive to the airport.”

Good Morning to you all. As I write this… it is an early a.m. Sunday… a time of the week I usually devote to deep thought. The question I ask myself..: and now, of course, you, too…

Is there a method to my madness? That asked… I’ll now restart this blog… you can decide…

¶1 outlines just one of the key underlying motives behind 9/11. ¶2 showcases the deadly way, which Osama bin Ladin’s soldiers had so matter-of-factly channeled their unresolved and unresolvable anger. True, that domestic, spousal interaction scene is my dramatization … but it does accurately portray that “just doing my job,” “punch the timeclock” “whatever it takes” terrorist ‘tude.

So… to CliffsNotes it… past diplomatic problems have turned into the present-day psychiatric problems… a.k.a., the madness of terrorism. I mean… nobody gets to the point of no return (as described in ¶2) on a whim. We drove people in the Middle East nuts. We hadn’t addressed problems with diplomacy before it was too late… and now… in all likelihood… it is too late. In essence… re 9/11? We did it to ourselves.

We’re nearly 15 years into our post 9/11 nightmare and, with each new attack, it feels like we’re no closer to ending the War on Terror than we were in 2001. President Obama even knocked off Osama bin Laden and, beyond exacting revenge, what else do we have to show for it?

OK… that sums up the past and present. So… where do we go from here?

I suspect that due to decades worth of failed U.S. foreign policy, exacerbated by George W. Bush’s squandering of the free world’s, post 9/11, international goodwill AND his further mucking things up by going on the offensive in Afghanistan and Iraq (the latter nation having no direct ties to 9/11) have made any attempts at peace talks impossible… yep that diplomatic ship has sailed off on a one-way trip to nowhere. Ergo we cannot talk our way out of this mess.

Additionally… President Obama has been sufficiently wise to wind down W’s offensive wars. The Prez understands we cannot fight our way out of this mess.

So what is left? Folks, all the U.S. can do is brace itself (further strengthen Homeland Security) and cross our fingers that we can keep the carnage to a minimum.

Accept the fact that this War on Terror is a no-win war to the end of time. In the not too distant future, “Mad’ just might take on another whole new connotation.

Redefining “M.A.D.”… that’d be Mutual Assured Destruction… e.g., where terrorists go nuclear. True… they’d die along with those who they attack… but… has not suicide been their shtick all along?

But… is that all there REALLY is? Might we be able to “pray” ourselves out of this mess?

As of late, I’ve been wondering. Is it time for a Hail Mary Pass? To face down the al Qaeda / ISIS Holy War with the Holy Book? Turning to Matthew 5:39…

“But I say to you, do not resist an evil person; but whoever slaps you on your right cheek, turn the other to him also.”

IF the U.S. turns the other cheek, I believe this just might totally freak out the terrorist world. Forsaking the offensive strategy could be a fatal blow to morale amongst the terrorist troops. Re U.S. passive resistance, some of them might even say, “Damn it… this ain’t no fun no more… I quit!”

And what could terrorist “management” do to stop their troops from going AWOL, threaten to kill them? Is it even possible to instill fear in those who’ve been programmed to blow themselves up?

And how could “management” find replacements after the whole world watches as the U.S. marches off to battle terrorism “armed” “only” with Matthew 5:39?

Redefining “mad”, yet, a fourth time… upon going back to reread my post… methinks that CommonSenseTom just may’ve gone mad, himself. What do you think?

If I am wrong… I now ask… “Where Do We Go From Here?”
